The new Shearwater 890C is a re-worked modern take on our most tried and tested 860, that was first production in 2004. We have now produced many boats not only around the British Isles but all over the world, exporting to many continents even as far as Australia. We are proud to say we are one of the first RIB manufactures to develop the concept to add a little comfort and protection without losing the advantage of owning a true RIB.
The 890C key features is a twin-berth with an opening ventilation hatch. The interior is carpet-lined with head linings and an interior cushion set in four sections. The middle cushions with boards can be removed, leaving a foot well with additional storage. There is also room to fit a sea toilet, this sits below centre cushion boards.
The bow houses a large draining anchor locker with two compartments for anchor and fender storage. Set on top of the forward deck is a large sun bed with pad on the front of the console with the aid of two stainless rails along the bow section. The companionway, hatch and dash panel are finished in teak and S/S. The windscreen is 8mm acrylic and angles the weather up and over the driving position. It is supported by a stainless grab rail. The standard packaged comes complete with a spray hood, which in foul weather can be clipped around the windscreen and erected very quickly. This allows you to continue your journey at reasonable speed in rain or heavy spray. The helm has "wrap around" sides giving a very secure helm position. The twin Ullman Compact seats provide comfortable and allows you to stand or sit. Behind the helm's seat is a large open area with the option of a table.
In the stern is a large bench seat for three, that incorporates storage as well as the rear tank filler. We then have another large sunpad that incorporates either more storage (outboard model) or the diesel inboard. There is a teak bathing platform option for the stern, and room for an auxiliary outboard bracket. The hull is very deep with heavy chines to throw spray down and away and also to generate lift. A twin tank configuration gives a total capacity of 400 litres of fuel all hidden away under the floor. There is large a choice of colours available for upgrade
