This beautiful 2/4 berth 1997 Pat Buckle 52ft all-steel narrowboat is a semi-trad live-aboard, 6ft 10 inches wide. Configuration is 10:6:4 (10mm steel base, 6mm to gunwhales, 4mm superstructure) welded throughout. Portholes at rear and fixed windows with removable glass openings at top. 4 brass mushroom ventilation ports along the roof. Aloysius has two external lockers, one containing two 1.3Kg calor gas bottles for central heating and hot water.

The boat boasts a 240 volt and 12 volt dual electrical system with 240 volt sockets throughout the boat that operate from a land hook-up cable. 12 volt is powered by the batteries, which are topped-up from the hook-up.

The boat was dry-docked and the hull bitumen-blacked over Easter 2016. Before that, Easter 2014. Next scheduled blacking is c2019. Boat safety certificate: 2012, renewal 2017.

This is one of the lease expensive moorings in London. Location is sought-after yet rarely available. Location is exile from the city, yet within it. Three Mills residential mooring is on a dedicated arm of the Three Mile Wall river, previously tidal, but changed to non-tidal in time for the Olympics in 2012. On one side is a wooded park, accessed via locked gates, through the 3 Mills conservation area and film studios. Walk over the canal bridge past our local Tesco to Bromley-by-Bow tube station on the District/Hammersmith & city lines, within 10 minutes of the boat. The other side is a development of housing, shops and restaurants, at present under construction. Access by road is this side, along Sugar House Lane. The mooring is secure, with manned barriers into a laundry & coal store, but Aloysius still has plenty of cruising in her; she’s just waiting to have her ropes untied.

Mooring is secure. This is the most valuable part of the boat purchase. Buyers must simply go through the formality of arranging a new mooring agreement in their name. Rate as follows: £75 per foot per annum plus VAT @20%, plus service charge (currently £50 per month). Electricity is charged as used per month. Please check out other central London moorings: you will find this very reasonable.

This is a less a mooring and more of a community of narrowboaters, with their own association and private yahoo group. There is assistance for any boating issue that crops up and a family spirit. We have enjoyed the camaraderie for years so are sorry to leave, but needs must. Aloysius is a well-cared for vessel, available for sale immediately. Buyers can go to the considerable trouble of requisition their own survey, but an independent verifiable survey, completed in April 2016 is available prior to the sale.

Beneath the hatches is a BMC 1.8 Litre 4-Cylinder water cooled diesel marine-modified engine, developing 40H. This engine, a popular choice for many narrowboats, is robust with no electronics to break down. The engine supplies the living accommodation hot water tank via a calorifier. Also in the engine bay are two large marine leisure batteries and a separate engine battery. A large diesel tank for the engine is located at the furthest point astern. The engine was removed, fully reconditioned and reseated in 2012. April 2016: New exhaust fitted, new alternator fitted, stern gland repacked.

From the stern deck, access to the boat is via a hatch and wooden doors, down three steps (with integral storage) into the carpeted rear cabin containing a fixed double bed. The bed has an overhead cupboard with down-lights for reading, and under-bed storage. Two cupboards have wardrobe space, one containing the Alde central heating unit (serviced March 2016), a large shelved unit for clothes with the hot water boiler beneath and a fixed unit with drawers.

Walk through to the bathroom (heads) which contains sink unit, toilet and shower, with shelves placed in clever locations. The toilet is vacuum-powered with a large cruise storage tank for pump out, located under the fixed bed. The shower is full-size with mixer valve, modern full size hand basin with curtained storage below and mirror above.

Proceed to the fully equipped galley, which has a laminate work surface holding a stainless steel sink. Appliances include a full sized 4 burner gas cooker with grill and oven, microwave oven and mains fridge with ice box. Galley has cupboards and shelves and drawer units below. An overhead display cabinet with shelving provides further storage.

Step through to the saloon area, which contains a corner cupboard with CD/Radio and space above for TV, a shelving unit for books and a top-opening pine chest. An L-shaped settee with storage beneath can be converted to form a double bed if four berths are needed. A dual fuel coal and wood burning stove sits in the corner and provides heating for the whole boat, and can be set to burn through the night. Warm as toast in winter.Toast.

There are steps up to the cratch area at the bow, via two wooden glazed doors. This area has space for seating while cruising, with covered lockers on each side and space to store coal in the winter. New zipped cratch cover fitted April 2016. At the very front of the bow is a water tank that supplies the whole boat, with a water pump and expansion tank situated beneath the cratch area, which is also a large storage space.
