Alfred Borgoine - Linton Hope Design
BUILT: c 1910
SUPPLIED WITH: Austin 7 Petrol
BEAM: 4ft 10”
South Pacific was built by Alfred Burgoine in Kingston-upon-Thames as early as 1910 and definitely before 1920 from double diagonal Honduras mahogany to a Linton Hope design.
*Some historical information about South Pacific, it was originally electric but had work done on it in 1966 by Neil Garside at Freebody’s, when an 8hp Stuart Turner was fitted. It was kept at Freebody’s latterly in storage, until the mid 1990’s. It was then bought by Mr Jameson, a vintage boat collector, who put it into storage in Poole. Following the death of Mr Jameson, it went into the Henley Boat Auction in 2003 when it was purchased by another collector, Mr Raggett, who moved it to Yorkshire, from where the present owner bought her in 2008. Since that time it has been in storage at Maycraft (Potter Heigham) over an earth floor. Now at Herbert Woods at Potter Heigham for viewing.
The Stuart Turner engine is no longer with the canoe there is now an Austin 7 engine, which has never been run.
A four wheeled trailer is also available that could be adapted (by separate negotiation).
