JH Taylor of Chester - Centre cockpit cruiser
Lady Avon is a fine example of the class of wooden cruisers built by JH Taylor & Sons of Chester. These boats were built as canal and river cruisers and have always been much admired. There are now only a handful of them left afloat.
Lady Avon was built in 1960 for a Mr Skerrett of Stoke-on-Trent, who owned the boat until his death. We bought her on brokerage from Taylor’s Yard, Chester in 1970 and have cruised most of the inland waterway system since then. She spent several years at Lymm Cruising Club on the Bridgewater Canal, then North Cheshire Cruising Club on the Macclesfield Canal until 2008, when she was brought to Hurley for an extensive refit
