The Nestaway 9ft Clinker Sailing Dinghy is very pretty and often described as a "miniature Swallow" (as in Swallows & Amazons). She also has the option of a unique feature amongst craft of this type: if you want her to she can be split into two sections that nest inside each other, for easier transport and storage. So you can put her on the deck of a yacht as a tender, drive her round in a box trailer or on our towbar platform (pictured), stand her on end in a beach hut, etc. The hull shape is "appealingly chunky", inspired by the traditional ship's boats that were designed to carry heavy loads of stores and crew, a boat you sit in rather than on (and "bigger" than many 10 foot dinghies). With her balanced lugsail rig she is very easy and also lots of fun to sail. The deep and straight keel and skeg keep her directionally stable when rowing, whilst under sail the daggerboard gives her more windward ability than you'd expect of such a traditional-looking craft. The clinker effect glassfibre hull looks great, and acts like a series of closely-spaced longitudinal stringers (strengthening ridges) so that the all-up weight of the hull comes in around 100-lb (just under 50kg). Of course if you need to carry her any distance you can always carry one piece at a time! The nested size is 4ft 10" by 4ft 5". The basic rowing version starts at £1995 inc VAT; with sailing packages from £2895 inc VAT
If you don't want the option to divide her into two nesting sections a single piece version - otherwise identical - is available for £250 less (so our sailing version special offer would come in at £2645).
Options include: brass keel band £150; teak decked buoyancy tanks £450; folding cleats all round £120; upgrade to 44sqft sailing rig £100 (all inc VAT). Our other sectional boats include 7ft 10" nesting stem dinghy; an 8ft nesting Pram dinghy; and the 14 or 16ft three-section Trio multi-purpose boats.
