    Manufacturer Provided Description

Designed by the renowned Ed Dubois, the remarkable Ocean 33 is an aft cockpit cruising yacht that combines sprightly sailing performance with the exceptional interior spaciousness that is so much a part of Westerly's much admired cruising style. Large enough to cruise with six people and all their gear, yet easily managed single handed, the Ocean 33 is a performance cruiser with an excellent turn of speed, both upwind and downwind.

The Naval Architect better known for  designing Super Yachts,Ed Dubois was given the job of Designing the Ocean 33 to replace the GK range in Westerlies portfolio. He set out to create a fast, comfortable offshore yacht with Ocean crossing capabilities and suceeded with this timeless classic. Not many production boats today can match the seaworthiness combined with and easily driven hull and comfortable solid interior which is why this owner chose her to sail around Britain Circuits and Southern Ireland.

The Ocean 33 has the feel of a much larger vessel with relatively traditional layout using good quality materials.

    • Set up for sailing the compression post dominates the saloon with her central table and saloon berths to port and starboard.
    • The forecabin behind the forward bulkhead has a large single and hanging locker with one large double berth with the use of an infill cushion.
    • Aft we have the working area with a large forward facing chart table and navigation area to starboard with the heads imediately behind.
    • The seamanlike heads face forward in a large easy to clean cabin to starboard.Corian sink and wipedown surfaces with a very pratical wet locker.Maximum headroom at 5` 10" and teak grating as a finishing touch.
    • The `L' shaped Galley to port again with corian worktop and stainless steel sinks provides an equally seamanlike working area designed for long passages woth plenty of bracing places. Two burner gimballed stove ,oven and grill with crash bar.Loads of storage with top loading fridge in the forward corner make use a joy whether at sea or in harbour.

With 5000KGS Dispacement the Ocean 33 is very well constructed with hand laid hull and deck mouldings with Isophalic gelcoat and vinyester layup resin.Solid non cored deck with teak toerail and bonded hull to deck joint.
