Classic long keel yacht, Van de Stadt Trintel 1, 1961. tiller steering. Powered by Perkins Perama 29hp diesel. 3 berths in 2 cabins including saloon.
She is a beauty, attracting salutes and comments wherever she goes, and was the star of the 2012 Trintella Rally in Holland (reported in Yachting Monthly). She is also very seaworthy with an easy motion.
'Selene Fair' is a Trintel 1, the first of the Trintellas, designed by Van de Stadt and built in 1961 by Anne Wever in Holland with a steel hull and wooden topsides.
She has a long keel, keel hung rudder with and a marked sheer.
She is a beauty, attracting salutes and comments wherever she goes, and was the star of the 2012 Trintella Rally in Holland (reported in Yachting Monthly).
She is also very seaworthy with an easy motion, I have sailed her from Wales to Holland and from the Solent to La Rochelle in SW France, and across the Channel many times.
She is surprisingly quick in a blow and I have participated in classic regattas.
I have set her up for single handed or short-handed sailing, including single line reefing, Self Tailing winches, tiller pilot, chart plotter and instruments. She is also set up for comfort, with heating, hot water, fridge, and a new gas cooker.
She has full standing headroom below while still looking elegant. Her saloon looks like a cosy gentleman's club.
She has been truly cherished. A keel-up complete three year restoration by the previous owner in 2000-2003 included;
Steel hull, round bilge. Long fin keel, transom hung rudder (wood composite).
Stainless steel toe rail shelf, International Epxy protection with 2 pack polyurethane paint scheme - flawless Mauritius Blue "ceramic" finish. Encapsulated ballast. Teak toe rail and teak cockpit seats, (high gloss "ceramic" varnish finish) Tiller - solid oak - "ceramic" varnish finish with chrome tiller stock (with weather protection cover)
The ballast has all been restowed since building and comprises steel ingots encapsulated in acrylic cement within the keel void wich is epoxy painted andlined with a GRP barrier membrane. The top surface is channelled to ensure bilge water sheds off into the sump.
Decks - marine ply, GRP sheathed. Cream 2 pack painted with non slip finish.
Cabins sides and coamings - mahogany and marine ply. International schooner tung oil style varnish applied to a flawless standard.
Classic Trintel Panama fairleadsbow and stern - strong enough to lift the yacht!
