The Nestaway 9ft Stem Dinghy has a unique feature: she splits into two sections that nest inside each other, for easier transport and storage. Put her on the deck of a yacht as a tender, drive her round in a box trailer or on our towbar platform (pictured), stand her on end in a beach hut, etc. The hull shape is "appealingly chunky", inspired by the traditional ship's boats that were designed to carry heavy loads of stores and crew, a boat you sit in rather than on. THIS ALSO MAKES HER AN IDEAL FISHING PLATFORM for two blokes and a load of gear. With her optional lug rig she is the stuff of "Swallows & Amazons" - this is both a practical boat and one in which you can have a lot of fun. The relatively deep (and straight, not all others are!) keel and skeg keep her directionally stable when rowing, whilst under sail the daggerboard gives her more windward ability than you'd expect of a traditional-looking craft. The clinker effect glassfibre planking is both pretty, and acts like a series of closely-spaced longitudinal stringers (strengthening ridges) so that the all-up weight as a rowing boat comes in around 100-lb (just under 50kg). Rowing boat price from £1663 (£1995 inc VAT) in glassfibre with Iroko trim. Options include: sailing rigs from £917 (£1100 inc VAT); upgrade to Teak woodwork; brass keel band; teak decked buoyancy tanks; and folding cleats. A commonly-specified option is to have the hull in cream and the top two planks in navy - the result is stunning (picture 3 & 4).
Our other sectional boats include 7ft 10" and 10ft nesting stem dinghies; an 8ft nesting Pram dinghy; and the three-section Trio motor canoe. For more information see our website www.nestawayboats.com; email [email protected]
