Lowestoft Training College - Electric Launch
FITTED WITH: Nexus 72 volt Electric Inboard Motor
LENGTH: 29ft 6”
There is some history attached to this beautiful launch, she won the World Electric Endurance Record in 1997 travelling 116 miles in 24 hours. Since that time she has had many improvements.
‘Wagtail’ has a GRP ‘Steam and Launch Company’ hull with a teak superstructure fitted out in Lowestoft by the International Boatbuilding Training College. She has spent most of her life on the Thames.
She has 240v supply via an 1800w ‘silent’ diesel generator, and a Stirling Invertor and battery charger. She has recently had one of her two banks of 12v batteries replaced to supply her 72v ‘Nelco Nexus’ electric motor.
The cabin top, sides and decks are all in teak, the helm position is amidships, with seating forward in the cockpit for up to 6 of more people, this area is open with vinyl zipped curtains, aft is more seating for up to another 6 or 7 people, the seating here is enclosed with glass picture windows. New curtains have recently been made by Broads Haven Covers.
A separate toilet compartment has been added, with a new manual pump out toilet fitted, the doors have been designed to fold away leaving more room in the companion way, when not in use. A domestic cold water supply to the sink was also installed.
The launch has undergone varnishing and anti-foul work during 2013. ‘Wagtail’ has now spent several years on the Broads, and her Boat Safety Scheme Certificate is valid until 2017.
