Nelson - 60
THIS BOAT IS NOW SOLD.
Nelson 60 Twin Screw Motor Yacht
ESTATE SALE ON BEHALF OF OWNER'S FAMILY
OFFERS INVITED IN THE REGION OF £100,000
It is our sad duty to place "Ocean Conquest" on the market , whose owner since 2007 - a well liked customer of Preston Marina with various boats over many years - has recently passed on.
The information below is presented in good faith and is primarily based on our own observations of the boat (in August 2014) and documentation found on board, however there remain quite a lot of gaps in our knowledge about the boat. What we do know is that Nelson 60's are extremely rare indeed - and perhaps someone reading this may know more about the boat than we do, and if so we would welcome any contact.
As recently as Summer 2013 "Ocean Conquest" enjoyed a west coast of Scotland cruise, and in fact we have found fantastic video of this trip on You Tube with superb footage of her at speed. Search YouTube for "Ocean Quest"
Type; Nelson 60 (Year of build TBC - estimated early 1980's). Built by Tylers. (Formerly named "Spirit of Ecstasy). Superstructure - Medway Mouldings (1987)
We know from the ship's papers that the superstructure moulding was added to the boat in 1987. This superstructure converts her from the "Pilot Craft" version of the Nelson 60 into a pleasure yacht, with a larger aft cabin and saloon.

Downstairs to galley with L-Shape seating to portside. Forecabin with twin stacked large single bunks, en-suite shower/heads. (See sketch plan).
Comments; While there is no mistaking the sea keeping pedigree and fundamental quality here which Nelson's are world famous for, "Ocean Conquest" does need some work the true scope of which can only be determined after a thorough survey which of course we strongly recommend a prospective purchaser should arrange.
The bilges seem dry and the installations seem good, but there is unfinished joinery and fit out in the cabins, with some carpets and upholstery pieces seemingly absent. There is evidence in place of water ingress through the deckhead - and some interior linings and upholstery have suffered some water damage as a result.
She was last lifted from the water in Spring 2013 and re-antifouled with new anodes fitted.
In August 2014 a marine surveyor was engaged to conduct a valuation inspection of "Ocean Conquest", after which he deemed her value to be in the region of £150-160,000, however a reasonably quick sale would be desirable hence the asking price inviting offers around £100,000.
