Crossbow 40 - Cutter Rigged Sloop

    Motivated Vendor

This Crossbow 40 Cutter Riged Sloop designed by Angelos Lavranos (Angus Primrose and Sparkman Stephens trained) was designed as a serious centre cockpit blue water sailing boat.

    Repainted with Hempel Multicoat.

She sleeps six in two state rooms and two additional berths forward and has two heads. Her aft owners cabin with en-suite heads, settee and chest of drawers is very palatial.

Her saloon has a divided area for safety in a sea way and she has good sized chart table.

Her galley which is under the port cockpit is good sized and very useable.

Powered by a  Volvo MD22L 50hp which was completely rebuilt in 2011 with only a few hundred hours. Every thing that could wear in an engine was replaced so this is virtully a new engine.

For the serious cruising enthusiast, this Crossbow 40 Cutter Riged Sloop benefits from a comprehensive sail wardrobe, domestic batteries [new 2010], 400 watt Air marine wind generator, Force 10 stove, Radar, AIS [new 2011], SSB, Autopilot, Radio,CD MP3 player and electric anchor windlass.

    Owners Comment:

'This boat is very satisfying to sail, reasonably fast with a dry comfortable motion I felt very safe when I single handed her across the N. Atlantic in 2010, direct N.Carolina to Scotland.

I had inetnded to keep her for further adventures but have decided to sell to free up funds so I can continue my sailing in a smaller craft.'

    Construction

Build/fabrication is solid GRP with heavy stringers.

Long fin keel has encapsulated ballast.

Rudder is a steel fabrication on GRP skeg which is part of the hull fabrication.

    Layout

From the layout drawing in our Image Gallery, this boat differs slightly due to the custom nature of these boats, as follows:

Starboard settee shorter and not a sea berth, chart table further forward, space used for chest of drawers in rear cabin[some drawers missing].

Galley linear under port cockpit seat.

No deck lockers in back deck, two transom opening windows.

There is a hanging wet locker in rear cabin and shower stall in rear heads, not a bath.

    Notes about current condition/maintenance list

Small deck hatches have to be re-bedded.

Two deck leaks still to be sorted

Bilge pumps-there are two electric, one high flow but two manual need service to work.

Spray hood has very strong s/s frame and had a window replaced during 2014

Replacement engine hour meter installed during 2014 .

Mast was removed last summer and mast step repaired with heavy GRP.

Mast head nav lights stopped working after mast down so additional pulpit /transom nav lights were installed during 2014.

Owner intends to increase the fresh water capacity with flexible tanks in January 2015.

    Deck paint 'refreshed' summer 2014.
