lots of people buy cheaper boats and think they are getrting a bargain and realise you have to get it up to spec to use it safely (especially if they need a new engine) and therefore end up spending twice the amount
yes there are lots of cheap boats out there, but this is a good boat which has had lots of money and time spent on it ,on the important things not on the gloss that everyone thinks is important
this boat may need a up date ref upholstery and internal decor, and some cosmetic changes, maybe a new cooker etc, but it all works and its usable now

faq answer to customer question--------------
the owner, john, brought it back to exeter after he re-engined the boat in plymouth, and had the rigging over hauled in order to sail it here
he then had the hull professionally expoxied and repainted, ion exeter, (i dont think there was any osmosis, i can ask) and its not been in the water since
i dont know much long term history beyond john buying it in around 2006, and i dont know of any repairs specifically that have been done, as such, apart from what john has done, which ive mentioned
john is an engineer and he does all the functional practical type of things, (engine installation, filters, exhaust, battery, shaft and prop, rudder bearings, steering, winches, electrics, mast and rigging etc etc not the glossy stuff like upholstery etc, and thats what matters, as far as he is concerned, (ie not things like the cooker which frankly look a little grubby, and could put people off who want new gin place type boats)
He fully intended on using it, but health became a problem. so he kitted it up for safe and reliable sailing and motoring when required
he has had a surveyor look at it, (a friend) during the work that he did but not a proper survey that can be passed on, but everything was sound, that mattered and you would be welcome to ask him for opinion “off the record”, or i would advise you pay for a proper survey for your peace of mind, ultimately if you do wish to buy it, “on the record” (the surveyor is rob feloy, from devon) as you should not rely on my opinion, or what we have advertised, in case we are wrong (i better note the official line, as we cant offer any guarantees )
its likely that you will need to do work, mainly some cosmetics, some painting (antifouling) and resealing in places, hatch joints etc, check windows etc, anything thats sealed would be wise, as over time you do get movement in hot and cold situations with boats generally etc but we dont know of any problems to speak of and you might want to upgrade the cooker and a few things, ref the galley, to have a clean start
basically it needs some use, some general maintenance and love and care, (as its not been used or touched for 5/6 years it will no doubt require some attention) and we would say its more or less ready to sail, in my opinion
the sails are fine to my knowledge, i dont think they are tired, the mast in here in the yard and should be fine, so you can see it here
i hope this helps and i can certainly try to find out more when and if required
