The Moody 36 Centre Cockpit is an incredibly well built long distance cruiser with an undisputed reputation for ocean-spanning cruising.
This particular example has been with her current owner since 1991, who has sailed around the world in her over a period of around 12 years before returning to England, where she has spent recent more summers cruising around Britain and in particular in Scotland.
The owner, a very popular member of the small community that is Preston marina, has now very reluctantly decided that the time has come to hang-up his deck boots and retire from sailing. He has loved sailing "Christabel & Sheila" and has logged tens of thousands of miles in her fulfilling what most of us only ever dream of, and it is with sincere admiration that this broker feels now that he should say that it is obvious that sailing has been the priority here - as opposed to keeping the yacht in the "boat show" condition that other boats which hardly ever leave the marina may be found in.
What I am trying to say in as polite a way as possible is that this Moody 36CC should really be considered a bit of a project boat.
Just prior to going on the market in Spring 2015 the owner commissioned a local surveyor to produce a "Condition Report". The summary of this report says; "The Moody 36 CC called Christabel and Sheila was found to be structurally sound. A partial refit and internal and external redecoration is needed to bring the boat up to modern standards."
Those looking for a proven and solid passage maker without being too concerned about the finer points could enjoy this yacht straight away - but it is likely that a refit will be on the agenda of the eventual buyer, so viewing is recommended and sensible discussions on the asking price are welcomed.
