THIS BOAT IS NOW SOLD. Type: Moody 36CC - Fin keel centre cockpit heavy cruising sloop. Built 1979 by Marine Projects, Plymouth. LOA 10.79m (35ft 5in) Beam 3.66m (12 ft.) Draft 1.5m (5’) (all approx.) Engine: Thorneycroft T90 - 38hp 4 cyl. diesel on shaft drive. 140 litre fuel tank. 6 knots cruising, 7.5 knots max. Inventory: Compass, Sounder, GPS, VHF, XM 2.5m Inflatable Dinghy, 3 Anchors, Hydrovane Self Steering, Sails: Mainsail described by owner in good condition, Furling foresail described by owner as old but servicable - recent cover. Accommodation: Double berth in aft cabin with en-suite heads. Navigation station to portside, galley on starboard side. Saloon has single sea berth to the portside and dining area to starboard that converts to another double berth. V berth in bow with heads compartment between saloon and forecastle. (The aft and forecabin berths do not have any bunk cushions as the owner felt that they had gone way past their serviceable life) The Moody 36 Centre Cockpit is an incredibly well built long distance cruiser with an undisputed reputation for ocean-spanning cruising. This particular example has been with her current owner since 1991, who has sailed around the world in her over a period of around 12 years before returning to England, where she has spent recent more summers cruising around Britain and in particular in Scotland. The owner, a very popular member of the small community that is Preston marina, has now very reluctantly decided that the time has come to hang-up his deck boots and retire from sailing. He has loved sailing "Christabel & Sheila" and has logged tens of thousands of miles in her fulfilling what most of us only ever dream of, and it is with sincere admiration that this broker feels now that he should say that it is obvious that sailing has been the priority here - as opposed to keeping the yacht in the "boat show" condition that other boats which hardly ever leave the marina may be found in. What I am trying to say in as polite a way as possible is that this Moody 36CC should really be considered a bit of a project boat. Just prior to going on the market in Spring 2015 the owner commissioned a local surveyor to produce a "Condition Report". The summary of this report says; "The Moody 36 CC called Christabel and Sheila was found to be structurally sound. A partial refit and internal and external redecoration is needed to bring the boat up to modern standards." Broker's summary; Those looking for a proven and solid passage maker without being too concerned about the finer points could enjoy this yacht straight away - but it is likely that a refit will be on the agenda of the eventual buyer, so viewing is recommended and sensible discussions on the asking price are welcomed. PLEASE NOTE: Whilst every care has been taken in their preparation, the correctness of these particulars is not guaranteed, these details are intended only as a guide. This boat and its inventory is owned and offered for sale by a private individual not acting in the course of trade. Purchasers and prospective purchasers are advised that there are no guarantees or warranties when purchasing from such an individual. We strongly recommend that independent professional marine surveyors and/or engineers be engaged to check the boat, its systems and its inventory (including any trailer) prior to purchase. After purchase there are no remedies for any faults found. Preston Marine Services Ltd. act as an agent for the private Vendor and can not offer any guarantees. Preston Marine Services Ltd. cannot make comments or assurances about any trailer that may be apparently included in the inventory of any of the boats we are handling as brokers as being in road worthy condition. Any trailer apparently included as part of a boat’s inventory should only be considered to be a yard or launching trailer unless otherwise stated.
