Tom Barry-Cotter will be the youngest entrant to take the helm in a Class 1 competition for over decade when he competes in the Greek Grand Prix on June 10th.
The 19-year-old son of esteemed Class 1 competitor Bill Barry-Cotter will be driving alongside Pal Virik Nilsen, 32, for the Spirit of Norway team in the event in Paleo Faliro in Athens.
News of Mr Barry-Cotter's participation comes after Spirit of Norway this week announced it had bought back its old boat and would be racing two boats this season.
The repurchased boat - with Mercury 9.1 litre V8s and a Michael Peters-designed Tencara hull - will be designated to Mr Barry-Cotter and Mr Nilsen.
Meanwhile, the second team will be made up of team founder Bjorn Gjelsten and throttleman Steve Curtis.
Mr Nilsen said: "Gjelsten is very pleased to have another competitive boat in his team in Class 1. This will be an exciting project with young talented guys, and we hope for a good first season and that the boat will get some good standings throughout the season."
