James Gower, director of marketing at the British Marine Federation (BMF) and National Boat Shows (NBS), is resigning after seven years in the role.
Mr Gower's tenure was marked by his negotiating TV and radio promotional opportunities as well as winning a seven-figure sponsorship contract for the London Boat Sow from Schroders.
He leaves the organisation just as the London Boat Show was recently named 'Exhibition of the Year' at the Trade Association Forum Awards.
Mr Gower said: "I feel very lucky to have been part of the BMF and NBS team working on two of the country's leading consumer events and in a fascinating industry.
"The introduction of the indoor Windsurfing Championships at the London Boat Show was a highlight for me, and an engineering triumph for the whole team. Teams are what make the exhibition industry tick and I am privileged to work with some of the best in the business."
The BMF has declared that rather than replace Mr Gower directly it will reformulate its management structure below director-level.
Mr Gower will leave as of August 17th and will be taking up a position at publishing giant Emap's construction division.
