Crossing the finish line and making it to Salvador da Bahia in Brazil at 15:45 UTC, Durban 2010 and Beyond has won the second race of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The South African team gained the maximum ten points by winning the first ocean crossing and as a result have moved up from fifth place to the top of the overall leader board.

Durban 2010 and Beyond was sixth across the start line in La Rochelle 23 days ago, but led the fleet for much of the race, care of the team's long-term strategy. Joff Bailey, race director, said: "Ocean racing is a marathon and not a sprint and Durban 2010 and Beyond has proved this. They have made some good tactical decisions and kept focused to achieve a well earned victory." Glasgow: Scotland with Style was second across the finish line, five and a half hours after the winners, having seized second place from Nova Scotia, which, combined with the points from the first leg of the race to La Rochelle, puts them on level pegging at the top of the leader board with Durban 2010 and Beyond.
