US coastguards have rescued four British men from the Atlantic ocean after their yacht was besieged by high waves and strong winds off the eastern coast.
The quartet left New York on November 9th and were heading for Bermuda when they were caught up in the rough weather that had them fearing for their lives.
After receiving a distress signal at around 23:30 on Sunday night, the onshore lifesavers were able to detect the boat's position but could not communicate over the radio or mobile phone.
However, help finally arrived when the coastguards dropped a radio and survival suits to the stricken men at 01:30 local time yesterday (November 13th), having located the 35-foot yacht about 250 miles south-east of Cape Cod.
But the crew's ordeal continued for a further four hours until they were able to be hauled up into an aircraft four hours later and was flown to Air Station Cape Cod.
Speaking to BBC news, the coastguards said that all four men, from Poole in Dorset, were in good condition and were making steady progress in their recovery.
