Bird’s eye view of the boats - PSP Southampton Boat Show plans 100ft ferris wheel
Visitors to the PSP Southampton Boat Show (12th – 21st September) will be able to ride a 100ft ferris wheel, and feast their eyes on the spectacular display of boats across the marina from the air!
The PSP Southampton Boat Show Eye will give families a real thrill – all part of the organisers’ strategy to make the show a boating festival for all ages. It will cost £3 per person for the 13 minute ride, and the capsules are ‘family sized’ to ensure a unique experience for groups of friends and families.
Action packed show for 2014
Already over 500 exhibitors have signed up to the 10-day event and more than 97% of exhibition space has sold out. From try-out sessions on the water, to new boat launches and celebrity appearances, this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show is shaping up to be truly action packed and memorable.
Another first for 2014 is a stage that will be set up in the Guinness Bar area with acts providing entertainment each afternoon. Michael Bublé tribute act ‘Might be Bublé' will be among the performers. Exhibitor bands providing the warm-up will include The Sunseeker Renegades and Princess yacht band.
The addition of an undercover walkway will provide a link between the Mayflower and Ocean exhibition halls.
Run by National Boat Shows, a subsidiary of the British Marine Federation, the event has one of Europe's largest purpose-built marinas with over 2km of pontoons able to display more than 300 boats. This year's diverse spectacle includes the show's feature boat the 112ft Tall Ship Phoenix, which will be lowering its gangplank to the public.
