Canal Boat Stag Party Nosedives
This weekend, a busy stretch of the Kennet and Avon canal in Bath had to be closed after a 65 ft canal boat sunk.
The boat was reported to have been hired for the weekend by a stag party, which was given away by the cans of booze floating on the waters surface surrounding the drowned 'Langton' boat.
It isn’t known how many people were on board or what caused the stag do to come to such a calamitous end, but it is understood that the canal boat got stuck in the lock in Widcombe, Bath. The 'Langton' slowly began to sink until it became fully submerged. The Canal and River Trust were quickly on the scene to initially attempt to reduce any diesel pollution into the canal by placing a number of pollution mats into the water. Since the accident, the organisation have been working to safely remove the boat from the scene, allowing traffic along the Kennet and Avon canal to resume.
The Anglo Welsh company who rented the boat to the stag do group have not confirmed any details about the stag party, but thankfully nobody was injured by the incident.
