BMF speaks out on Red Diesel

The British Marine Federation (BMF) has said that it is continuing to work with government to try and reach a suitable outcome with regards to the loss of the Red Diesel derogation for boaters.

Following the decision by the European Commission not to renew the derogation of Red Diesel for leisure boaters, owners of private craft will lose permission to use the low-duty diesel as of November 2008, although the Treasury is still unsure as to how to implement the change. Read More...

RNLI trials new slipway signage

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is testing out new slipway signage in seven locations across Devon, Dorset, Hampshire and on the River Thames in London.

Changes in price of marine diesel to be discussed

Proposed changes to how marine diesel is priced are to be thrown open to public comment.

New radar unveiled in Amsterdam

A new radar promising to be smaller and more powerful than any other in its range was unveiled yesterday at this year's Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam.

The 18-inch radar, which runs on 4kW, is said to be twice as powerful as its competitors as it has a five-degree horizontal and 25-degree vertical beamwidth with a best-in-class range of 35 nautical miles. Read More...

Four-man British crew rescued in mid-Atlantic

US coastguards have rescued four British men from the Atlantic ocean after their yacht was besieged by high waves and strong winds off the eastern coast.
