Glider Yachts SS18 set for Monaco Yacht Show debut
Following eight years of design and planning, the incredible-looking SS18 from UK-based Glider Yachts is preparing for a high profile debut at Monaco Yacht Show (September 23-26).
Glider Yachts revealed its original design in January this year, and went into production in April with the first model being hand crafted in the UK by Burgess Marine. The team behind project SS18 says this high performance day craft will deliver a new level of experience to the industry’s high-speed luxury market.
The SS18 boasts an elegant, futuristic design and is incredibly powerful. Made of high-grade aluminium, the yacht is fitted with four 270hp supercharged engines – capable of reaching 56 knots.
The superyacht industry is hungry for details on the SS18 and its likely price tag. The latest news from London-based Glider yachts is that a top speed of 56 knots is achievable. The cost to own one of these high tech super-vessels will be upwards of £600,000.
The yacht features a cabin with custom interior seating by Corbeau. There’s a bespoke dashboard featuring integrated system controls by Garmin, which allows users to centrally control all of the vessel’s handling and system functions.
Being revealed in all its glory at the Monaco Yacht Show this September, the SS18 is the first in a series of luxury craft, ranging from 18 to 80 metres from Glider Yachts. The SS18 is to be followed by the faster Hyper Sports 18.
