National Go Canoeing Week: Every Mile Counts
It’s time to grab your paddle and get out on the water, because National Go Canoeing Week starts on Saturday. Running from the 24th May to 1st June, the organisers want you to help them canoe the entire distance around the UK’s coastline!
To get involved and join in with the fun, there will be a number of events across the country helping people of all ages to try the sport. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a total expert, the Every Mile Counts challenge needs you to record how far you paddle over the week to help contribute to reaching the target of 11,073 miles – the distance around the UK’s coastline.
Up and down the country, from Dorset to Cumbria, there are so many ways to enjoy being out on the water throughout the week.
Starter Sessions will provide you and the whole family with a great introduction to the sport and adventure of canoeing.
Guided Tours will offer a unique opportunity to explore your local waterways, relax and experience something new.
If you’re wanting something a little more competitive, Challenge Routes will allow you to race against the clock and compete against friends at some amazing locations.
Or perhaps you’d like to Clock Up Your Own Miles by registering and recording how far you paddle for the chance to win some fantastic prizes.
Go Canoeing is a Canoe England Olympic legacy project aimed at inspiring more people to participate and enjoy the sport. So why not give it a go? Find your nearest event here.
