More than 36.000 boat lovers are expected to flock to the 2015 Palma Superyacht Show in Mallorca this week to view and purchase the latest sail and motor boats, and soak up the sunny atmosphere as the new yachting season kicks in.
The show starts on Thursday 30th April and runs to Monday 4th May. It is billed as a boat show for brokerage and charter yachts above 24m in length, and with a stunning line up of yachts, is expected to impress visitors from all over the world.
The Palma Superyacht Show has a 50/50 motor to sail ratio and is one of the few shows run by the industry for the industry. It is organized in partnership with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association, and has flourished since its debut in 2013.
Yachting industry experts say this year’s show could be the best to date with almost 70 yachts on display and 50 top name exhibitors.
Yachts on display this year include...
..the magnificent Mondango, a 51.8m sailing yacht built by Alloy Yachts, the elegant Elenora (pictured above) - a 49m sailing yacht designed by Herreshoff, the company that designed many America's Cup yachts at the beginning of the 1900s. If you’re lucky enough to be there, you’ll also love the 43m motor yacht Rubeccan, the Twilight (pictured below)- at 38.14m it is the largest Oyster Yachts ever built - and the eye catching former rescue tug Mastiff.
On the cosmopolitan Spanish island of Mallorca yachting has been important for many years and this makes it the ideal setting for a brokerage and charter show of this kind. It is the centre for brokerage sales of large sailing yachts in the Mediterranean and one of the most dynamic refit destinations in Europe. Where chartering is concerned, Spain in now fully open to foreign-flagged yachts.
Jens Ploch of Pantaenius Spain says: "The Palma Superyacht Show has placed the Mallorcan industry back on the international map and is the perfect rounding off to the European boat show season. For many, this can be the best and perhaps last opportunity to view a large selection of yachts and decide on the upcoming seasons plans. We are delighted to be part of it and to advise our clients on site with regards to their insurance requirements."
Nautipaints, longstanding standing specialists in finishing and refinishing, are also looking forward to exhibiting at this year’s Show. According to Ruth Tzumy: “Palma is the epicentre for Super Yachts in Europe, there isn’t anywhere else like it: the Palma Super Yacht Show is going to be a meeting of the crème de la crème of the industry.”
