Southampton Boat Show 2015 Preview: Britain’s biggest boating festival
From historic tall ships to cutting-edge catamarans, the world of boats will be celebrated at Mayflower Park once again this September (11th to 20th) for the 47th Southampton Boat Show 2015.
Britain’s biggest boating festival promises an eclectic mix of glamorous superyachts, racy RIBs, classic boats, marine equipment, sailing expertise, taster opportunities and fun family activities across the inspirational 10-day event.
For the 2014 show, a strong exhibitor list and fine weather led to swelling crowds – over 112,000 people attended, very slightly up on the 111,963 who visited in 2013. Will Southampton Boat Show 2015 prove equally popular?

From powerboats to sail boats, Southampton Boat Show is the perfect place to climb on board and really get a feel for an amazing array of vessels. World famous yacht brands will be on site showcasing a stunning lineup of incredible luxury motor yachts, with many debuts being planned for to impress the crowds.
Princess Yachts – celebrating 50 years in the luxury yacht building business – will show 12 models ranging from 39 to 88ft, with all eyes on the exclusive world launch of the S65 and the dynamic V58 Open.
Legend Yachts UK are back displaying at the Southampton Boat Show 2015 with the stunning new Legend 31 (pictured left) alongside the internationally popular Legend 40.
More exhibiting brands are expected to be announced soon.
Get Afloat & Try-a-Boat
On the Water’s ‘Get Afloat’ scheme which is supported by the team at Rockley provides lots of opportunities for fun and new experiences for younger visitors. This attraction offers those aged 8-16 year the chance to discover dinghy sailing and Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP).
Meanwhile ‘Try-a-Boat’ sessions from On the Water allow visitors to experience being out on the water on a varied selection of vessels.
Always a popular element of the show is the RYA Active Marina Experience. It’s the perfect opportunity to refresh your boating skills and get advice from expert instructors through the on-water and shore-based workshops.
Remember that these sessions on Power Handling, Berthing and Boat Handling, and Motor Cruising get booked up super fast.
Catamaran rides for wheelchair users
This year at Southampton Boat Show those with disabilities and wheelchair users will have the chance to get out on the water and experience the thrill of catamaran cruising.
Suzuki will be running rides in a fully wheelchair accessible 9m Cheetah catamaran, powered by two of Suzuki’s flagship V6 300hp outboard engines

Earl of Pembroke Tall Ship
Spectacular square-rigger the Earl of Pembroke will take a break from featuring in blockbuster movies to allow Southampton Boat Show visitors to climb aboard, check out the rigging and creaky cabins, and time travel to the golden age of tall ships.
Since renovation this beautiful ship has become a real movie and television star. She featured in a long list of small and big screen projects including Cloud Atlas, Longitude and Hornblower.
The Red Arrows will be performing their famous show-stopping display. Once again this year, a big wheel will dominate Mayflower Park – the Honda Boat Show Eye - bringing a real sense of fun and adventure and the chance to take in spectacular panoramic views across the vast show.
