 Based on the enormously successful and sea-proven Predator 160, the Predator 165 has set new standards of performance and safety, combined with a modern and stylish design.
Safety at Sea
The Predator 165 was developed to be one of the safest boats in its class and, with that aim, "unsinkable" just wasn't good enough for the design engineer at Predator Boats.
A boat can be called "unsinkable" even if its stern is held under water by its outboard motor and its bows are pointing up at the sky like a rocket! What help is that to you if you are five miles offshore and alone in a bitterly cold sea?
This can't happen with the Predator 165. The "lifering" of buoyancy built into the hull of the Predator 165, which is additional to the usual underfloor buoyancy chamber, means that swamping is no longer the threat it used to be. Their large deck area, shallow draft and stable hull make them an exceptionally versatile boat suitable for use as diving platforms, fishing (nets and pots), angling, research, patrol, or charter.

Construction |
 The hull was designed with safety very much in mind. Each of the two hulls is segmented into 4 water tight compartments by bulkheads. A breach of any of these eight compartments would not compromise the boat. This is one of the key features of the boat.
The Stormcats hull itself is molded in one piece to give a uniform strength throughout. During construction, 153 x 102 x 51 mm frames are positioned every 220 mm along the whole of the length. The keel has a lay of 8,700 g/m² (2.8") making them ultimately one of the strongest vessels in their class.
Stormcats have non-pigmented gelcoat below the water line and the first two layers of resin are isolthalic. This virtually eliminates all risk of osmosis in later life. Construction is then from a mixture of chopped stands and woven-roven mating with Lloyd's approved clear resin.
Stormcats come in a wide range of sizes. The 7.5 to 9 metre sizes suit fishing and pleasure activities. The 9 to 10 metre being more suited to fishing, pleasure and charter applications.

Engines |
 Our recommended and preferred engine is Yanmar, but we are not tied to any manufacturer and we can meet any of your requirements.
For powerboat use, Yanmar makes main engines up to around 350kW. Their reliability is legendary; but they are also light, compact and powerful. Fuel economy advantages over petrol are dramatic, as is engine life. Yanmar diesel engines run further and more efficiently between tank refills, while being amongst the most dependable engines on the market today.

The Jacobs Yacht and Boat Cradle
E. Jacobs and Sons have been manufacturing boat cradles for over 20 years.
We also manufacture keel bolts, pintles and skegs as well as other components for the marine industry (any fabrications made to drawings).
Originally Jacobs cradles were made of a rigid construction and though strong and robust, the problems were apparent with transportation. Some cradle bases could be 4m wide and 6m long!
It was with this in mind that we designed a cradle which could be easily transported and also have a great degree of strength and adjustability to suit the numerous types of different hull configurations.
After much development work the Jacobs patented cradle was put into production. At the time of writing over 500 have been fabricated and are being used in the UK, Eire and Sweden (it is however possible to transport them all around the world).
