John Boy is a Cox 22 day fishing / workboat built by T-Boats of Brightlingsea in the early 1970s. She has a long central keel and a steel skeg to protect the propeller and rudder; with her bilge keels she can take the ground safely on a drying mooring under sheltered conditions. The wheelhouse has been extended to give additional protection to the cockpit and the cockpit has been rebuilt with Iroko raised sides and trim. Her electronics pack includes Radar, Fishfinder, VHF Radiotelephone and Autopilot. Power is by BMC 2.5litre 4-cylinder diesel (circa 55hp).
