This is my Dad’s much loved Windy 9000 which he will be sad to see go as we all will. As the earlier 9800 model she is 9.8 or circa 32’ overall including bathing platform but 9.0 ex platform and drives, hence the 9000 model. This one in particular is a rare one with arguably two of Volvo Penta’s best Diesel engines fitted; the 200hp 6cyl 41’s on 290 duoprop outdrives. The 9000 designed by the Norwegian designer Linge moves on from the 9800 with subtle additions which still give a soft ride but making her drier and more integrated. Avra can support a range of cruising speeds, is pretty quiet for a power boat and has a top speed of circa 35 knots on aluminium props as she is now. Fuel consumption through the range to fast cruising speeds is also good being the more fuel efficient diesels with cheaper fuel. Duo props can also help reduce fuel consumption as she is. She turns heads when scrubbed up well but isn’t like that at the moment. The first picture shown is of Avira back a while to give you some idea what she can look like underway, the rest were taken in September 2019.

or many more pics I took in late September 2019 or more detail.
Avra was valued by an experienced broker at £30,000 as a Diesel Windy 9000 of her age in good shape. She is still in use and operational but needs work; Hence not in good shape all round and the asking price.
For those that don’t know Windys, they are quality sought after boats built to high Scandinavian Veritas standards. They are given over to the cockpit side and outside life with seakeeping to match but are not big on accommodation space below. The 9000 however does have 4 pleasant berths in two cabs. There is a loo in its own cubicle, with shower and a shower on the bathing platform. There is hot and cold water too!
Why is he selling her you might ask? It’s getting hard for him now to take her out and the lack of my Mums company and enthusiasm doesn’t help.
Longest run last season was round the Isle of Wight was with Dad and some friends visiting sights of interest about late Aug or early September 2019 which is 60 plus nautical miles. They had a great run and she went well as she does. Myself and my daughter also went out on her several times and she was as solid and quiet as ever.
Equipment wise there is an array of twin engine instruments as original Volvo Penta, an old Radar, log, echo sounder and anchor windlass. I know the echo sounder gives erratic readings, believed to be the transducer which has come unstuck. Anchor winch does work from the cockpit. The Radar did work well but I don’t think it’s been used for a while. Hot and cold water and domestics work. Hoods and covers are included with her. She has a full standing height cockpit hood inc fly hood and a tonneau cover. Both are fine. The full hood has seen little use, the tonneau is I think less than 2 years old. It certainly looks fairly new.
