Canal and NarrowboatsUnited KingdomCity/area Ely
Beautiful spotless narrow beam 47ft narrowboat recently refurbished to a high specification including engineered oak floors and solid oak cupboards. Reluctant unexpected sale due to relocating. Ideal liveaboard (my husband and I lived happily onboard for 11 years)
Ergonomically designed fit-out with exceptional storage.
In August 2019 “Guinevere” was taken out of water for a full hull survey and recommended jobs have been completed, including overplating of the bow bottom plate for 5 metres and side plating for 4 metres. Hull cleaning and painting with 4 coats of bitumen paint (which has been done every four years since we bought her in 1996) was also completed at that time in addition the painting of her stern bilge area with corrosion inhibiting paints and repair of an area of corrosion on fuel tanks.
She is newly painted with the tough durable marine International gloss paint system for weatherproofing, giving her a very smart striking appearance. Hand painted artwork inside and out by skilled narrowboat artist. Everything is in good repair and smooth working condition including fuel and water tanks, plumbing and electrics.
These are her main features:
Built in 1972 she has undergone a system of works, improvement and refurbishment since we bought her in 1996
Lister SR3 engine, air-cooled, simple and extremely reliable 19.5 hp, last fully serviced in October 2018. We have only filled her fuel tanks up 4 times since buying her so she has not done that many miles.! The engine is easily accessed by taking up the deck boards on the spacious stern deck
Hull: High quality British steel (no Chinese imported inferior grade steel this!) 6.4mm, flat bottom, 4.7mm sides
Superstructure: UPVC sides, GRP roof, marine ply waterproof storage boxes were constructed to fit to the roof and have solar panels to top up electricity. They have quick release hinges to enable Guinevere easy passage through very low bridges. The decks and bulkheads are marine ply. Treadmaster antislip covers the roof and gunwhales
Bespoke PVC deck covers (2) prevent rain ingress into the bilges which had, before we bought her, caused most of the corrosion and subsequently the need for plating. Since then we have meticulously kept her bilges dry at all times.
Fuel tanks (2) hold 50 gallons or approx
Water tank holds 100 gallons or 550lt approx
