Please note - I AM NOT A BOAT EXPERT so the following details are to the best of my knowledge only. I can't ask the former owner, as he is no longer with us.
if in doubt, please contact me, and I will do my best to answer, or better still, come and have a look at the boat for yourself.
Boat no. 461 from Andrews Boat builders was being restored by my late Uncle for his own use. He wanted to use it for pleasure in retirement, but he never made it that far. He had worked in a Thames boatbuilders for some time in the 60s or 70s, so he knew his stuff, and his best guess was that it was built in about 1963, possibly a year or two later or earlier.
The deck has been stripped and re-varnished, and some preliminary work has been done on the hull. The cockpit needs further work.
The engine is still in place, and seemed in reasonable condition for its age last time I looked, but needs work.
As I am not an expert, I cannot tell you exactly how much work needs doing, but to the best of my knowledge, the hull is basically sound, and I do know that a lot of work has been done on the deck.
There are padded seats, oars, and some other related items included in the auction - see photos for details.
Also included, but not in the photos are a spare wheel for the trailer and a steering wheel for the boat, various bits and bobs and some tins of maritime paint and varnish that will give an idea of what was used on it.
The boat was being restored indoors in a dry garage for a year or so, and has been outside on land under a tarpaulin (included in the sale, and shown in the photos) since the last restoration work was done in early 2017.
A small heater has been put under the engine block during the winter months when it looked like the temperature was heading towards freezing.
Please contact me via email or phone if you wish to view the boat. If you ring and get the answerphone, please leave a message, and I will try to get back to you.
