    A superb Fairey Swordsman aft cabin built in 1970 and fastidiously maintained over many years by knowledgeable owners.  The Vendor purchased the boat in 2005 - then known as 'Hamble Sword' - which was subsequently re-named 'Liberty'.  

    In Summer 2019 the boat travelled over 250 nautical miles.  N ow ashore near Poole in a custom-made shelter and with the regular tight cover fitted to protect the decks, cabin paint and exterior varnish.

    Twin new Perkins M225Ti engines were fitted in 1998 with about 1150 hours since.  The vendor has new teak decks fitted in 2006 being 10mm deep with new marine ply substrate underneath.  Much history and details concerning many upgrades and improvements over the years. 

    All surfaces repainted in 2015    A cradle ensures easy lifting and launching.  A  Survey for insurance purposes was carried in Spring 2019.

    Part One registered to ensure full Transfer of Title  with much maintenance and provenance history. 
    Brief Description of Maintenance and Improvements

    The previous owner had the boat from 1996 to 2005 and work he commissioned included: some new spray rails; full re-wire using MOD spec cable; new switch panels, new engines; new heater; repaint; new windows and more. 

    1.  Work completed by current owner since purchase in 2005.

    New bow fairlead fitted

    New electric windlass fitted

    New spurling pipe fitted with new 40m length of chain 

    All chrome fittings and trim re-plated

    New fuel fillers fitted

    New mid-ship cleats fitted, plus original style large cleats fore and aft

    New anchor and anchor chocks fitted

    New kedge anchor fitted and stowed aft

    New stainless steel mushroom vents fitted

    New stainless steel handrails on coach-roof fitted

    New bulkhead fitted forward (a well-established technique to strengthen the hull for longevity)

    3 x new structural floors fitted on centre-line and bilge painted fore and aft cabins

    Outboard longitudinal stringers extended to meet bulkhead number 2 on both port and starboard sides (a well-established technique to strengthen the hull for longevity)

    Transverse stiffeners added port and starboard in fwd cabin outboard of outer longitudinals (again, a well-established technique to strengthen the hull for longevity)

    Lower windscreen timber frame and w/s inner at cabin top replaced

    Windscreen braced on centre-line with stainless steel strut

    New canopy frame and hood fitted

    New windscreen Perspex fitted

    New speakers fitted in cockpit

    Internal cockpit panel sides refinished

    New teak deck and sub deck fitted in 2006

    New rubbing strake and toe-rail fitted

    New veneer fitted in forward heads

    New basin and tap fitted in forward head plus surround

    Hinge fitted to mast and mast refinished, internal wiring and electrical fittings replaced

    Transom platform removed new timber grounds fitted to transom

    Transom ladder removed and refitted complete with new timber fairings

    New lower stainless ladder fitted to transom platform

    Bottom of hull scraped to bare timber, minor defects repaired and re-finished with primer x 6 coats

    Spray rails refastened where required

    Props removed and balanced

    Shafts removed, the P brackets removed and re-bedded port and starboard

    Stern tube hoses and clamps replaced port and starboard

    Stern glands removed new seals fitted port and starboard

    Rudders and tubes removed and re-bedded with internal doublers port and starboard

    New water tank fitted

    New fuel fillers fitted with new hoses

    New water pump and strainer fitted

    Anodes replaced as required

    Air intakes re-gel coated and Swordsman badges refurbished

    New exhaust hoses fitted between engine and bulkhead port and starboard

    New exhaust elbows fitted at bulkhead port and starboard

    Transom exhaust outlets removed and re-bedded port and starboard

    New turbo heat blankets fitted x 6

    New batteries fitted as required

    New raw water inlet hoses from sea-cock to pump fitted port and starboard

    New heads hoses fitted fore and aft

    Aft head pump and motor serviced, forward head serviced and new parts installed

    New fire extinguishers fitted to engine compartment. and cabins

    New gas pipe, hose and regulator fitted through to stove

    New skin fittings and valves fitted at all hull penetrations plus new hoses and hose clamps

    New baffles fitted to engine compartment.  intake vents port and starboard

    Topsides refinished and transom refinished in 2015 by well-known marque specialist

    Coach-roof and coamings refinished

    Varnished teak rail added to coach-roof edge forward port and starboard

    All varnish work refinished

    New horn fitted

    New VHF aerial

    Smart 24V charger and 12V 'dropper' fitted

    Removable solar panels installed for power/battery charge when away from supply

    Cradle and shed for lifts and winter protection

    Plus routine hull and machinery annual maintenance carried out each year with all shipwright work carried out by Martin Mitchell

    Liberty has spent an average of 5 months in the water each season with the remaining 7 months under the bespoke cover (picture taken before gable ends are fitted) and she was laid up ashore for two summer seasons when we were too busy to enjoy her.

    2.  Broker's informal comment.

    It is well-known that rain and sunlight cause damage to wooden boats so there is a growing trend for boats to be fitted with all-over covers to protect the varnish and wood-work when not in use.

    'Liberty' benefits from that small but carefully considered investment to provide protection from the elements.
