'Flute' is a beautiful 21ft Humber Yawl. Designed by George Holmes in 1896, she is a replica of his famous boat 'Eel'. 'Flute' was built in Windermere in 1978 and featured in the first Classic Boat magazine. She has always belonged to rich men and I think spent her life waiting to go sailing. I bought her at first sight, didn't even need to go aboard!
I've sailed her for three years, she is a little beauty. I've owned beautiful boats all my life but as I came ashore after a good sail last sesaon I said to my wife 'She's my favorite'. You can sail her single handed and she is ideal for two.
She was afloat until April this year and tight as a drum! Standing in the yard has dried her out a little, even so she could be afloat in a couple of weeks. She is on her own a road trailer and can be viewed in the yard in Whitby.
I'm 76 and due for some surgery. If you are looking for a new lover she could be yours!...Read full description
