Sailing BoatsCruisersGib Seagibsea 282 Lift Keel gib sea
Sadly for sale is our lovely Gib'Sea 282 Swing keel the DorneMist.
Based in North Cornwall on a swinging and drying mooring at Padstow (during the season) but currently on hard standing for winter storage in Wadebridge.
Her combination of low draft (keel up), ability to dry out and great sailing performance make her a perfect boat for virtually any cruising ground.
Her accommodation has to be seen to be believed on a 28 foot boat.
The scoop stern with bathing platform and deep folding ladder make boarding easy and it is great fun as well as being a fantastic safety feature.
She is rigged for single handed sailing (and safety) with single line reefing and all lines lead back to the cockpit.
The DorneMist is a well equipped and well maintained example of this fantastic and rare cruiser.
This boat (and indeed all of the other 282's I have seen) is almost exactly the same as the boat featured in the yachtsnet.co.uk archive. A great testament to just how good the original design of this boat was.
“The Gibsea 282 is a cracking Family Cruiser designed by Michel Joubert. He has packed a lot into 28 feet that is for sure! It is one of the smallest cruisers to have a practical double aft cabin, in a very attractive and well-finished interior. She has an open plan saloon giving a spacious feel to the interior, and yet having up to 6 berths in three doubles with a separate aft cabin and a separate heads compartment with marine toilet and shower”.
Two separate double cabins, a spacious saloon with galley and a heads with shower. She also offers 6ft standing headroom. The aft cabin also includes an area of full standing head room. Quite a feat in a 28 foot vessel.
