    11.25m Gaff Ketch, 1977

    Martha Kathleen is a massively robust and strong vessel built for her present owner's parents in 1977. Designed and built with the intention for short handed cruising in the Western Isles. A beamy traditional styled boat with plenty of internal volume and excellent sea going qualities.
    She is carvel planked in Iroko. She carries a heavy cast concrete keel.
    Internally she has lead and iron ingots (repainted bilges- ballast pig iron was removed all shot blasted and epoxy coated and replaced).

    There is an 8ft x 12ft coachroof. giving a generous headroom of 6ft 4 ins below.
    <h3>Construction</h3>
    Carvel planked iroko on laminated iroko frames.
    Wide open laid iroko decks with a simple coach-roof forward of the mizzen and a deep and secure self-draining cockpit aft of it.
    She has had considerable work cleaning out her bilges and re-ballasting, re-caulking.
    External long ballast keel .
    <h3>Accommodation</h3>
    From the companionway there is a chart table stb&#039;d and a galley area to port with two burner gas stove, rack for two &lsquo;in-use&rsquo; ,five gallon water cans and small basin to port, main saloon has a large fixed, drop leaf dining table. 2 x full length berths above with width settee berths below on both sides of the cabin, with lockers under and behind and pilot berths behind.
    Going forward the |Heads are to port with Jabsco pump out sea toilet and a rack of two gallon water cans a hanging locker opposite. A solid fuel stove against the mast deck bulkhead. In the focsl&#039;e there are four berths, one is of a double width and the opposite number is used as the bosun&#039;s locker.
    and a fore hatch with fixed ladder to foredeck . The fore peak for chain, fenders and warps is open to the focs&rsquo;l.
    Cockpit: Deep cockpit aft with seat lockers including vented gas bottle locker and lockers behind. Gimballed compass mount and Raymarine display. Aft locker for sails and five gallon water cans. Hydraulic wheel steering and Morse controls for engine.
    <h3>Sails</h3>
    Rig: Gaff ketch with Bermudian mizzen, galvanised iron standing rigging and running backstays, bottle-screws. Bowsprit can be run in for mooring in marinas.
    Sails: No1 jib on Wykeham-Martin roller, No2 and No3 jibs set flying (older sails), Stay sail with one set of reef points, Mainsail with two deep reefs, Mizzen with one deep reef, jackyard topsail, mizzen stay sail (older sail), light air jib that fills the fore triangle and asymmetric reaching sail with snuffer.
    Running rigging replaced and standing rigging enhanced, new working sails and light air jib from James Lawrence and an asymmetric reacher from Jeckells.
