The Trident 24 was designed by Alan Hill,

and built between 1962 and 1976 by
    Marine Construction Ltd., in Southampton.
The hulls were moulded to Lloyd’s
specifications, and the first few built
    were of composite construction, with
GRP hull and a ply deck and coach roof,
about 250 were built in total.
With its traditionally stepped coach roof,
the Trident looks like a 'proper yacht'.
Tridents have a good reputation for
    seaworthiness, at least one having
    crossed the Atlantic singlehanded.
The design was originally as a lift-keeled
    (230lb ½” hot-dipped galvanised steel
plate) which is raised and lowered by a
stainless steel wire attached to a cockpit winch.
(No 1’s is mounted to port inside the
    saloon on the cockpit bulkhead.
It is operated by a handle on the outside
in the cockpit). With the steel plate
down it draws up to 5’9″ (1.75m).
But with it raised it will float in just 2’1″ of water.
‘Trident’ (No 1) has been in my ownership
for 15 years, during which time she has
been sailed every season, and wintered
ashore. She has proved to be a most
competent ‘racer’, winning most of the
races in her class. She has sailed many
miles in the Medway, Thames, and
East Coast estuaries, where her lifting keel
    has proved invaluable.
Throughout my ownership I have modified
and upgraded ‘Trident’ to keep her
    competitive, safe and reliable.

Re-decked 2004 with marine ply, cloth & epoxy sealed.
Beta 15 HP Diesel Engine fitted in 2007 and (Serviced annually).
    Professionally Re-rigged in 2009.
    Copper Coated 2010.

Trident No 1 being a lift keel requires a
cradle when stored ashore, this will be
sold with the boat, together with a
    ‘Garage’ frame and boat cover.
