The Land Rover of the Sea!
Here is a fantastic opportunity to own an outstanding MK1 Rigid Raider, dory designed and built by RTK, Originally designed as a Troop carrier/assault craft for the Royal Marines, Army, & UKSF.
This craft came into service in 1972 and were heavily relied upon during the Liberation of the Falkland Islands in 1982. These vessels are designed to carry small groups of Commandos and their stores for raiding purposes. It’s carrying capacity in a temperate, climate is 6 troops plus 200 lbs of stores, or in artic conditions 5 troops and 200 lbs of stores.
This one has particular provenance previously being in service, and a veteran of the Thames Fire and Rescue Service. Prior to coming into my possession 3 years ago as a project “costing £1700.00”, this strong and Seaworthy craft has only ever been used as a rescue vessel and family boat, for days out on the water. “Therefore it’s never been dropped by parachute out of a C130 Hercules or dropped from a Chinook helicopter”.
This Raider has provided me and my family with years of confident, trouble free boating. This vessel is truly in fantastic condition for its age, following a complete refit in May 2019 “this year” by Roy Frances at GRP Mouldings of Christchurch, where the vessel was re-decked, hull strengthened and repainted in International Toplac. “Costing £1600.00”.
Fitted with an expensive center console, “costing £800” with Morse steering and a lockable 2 person bench seat “costing £300.00” with storage for life vests ropes stores etc. Fuel tank new battery and navigation lighting on (A) frame with water tight box for distress flares "Costing £500.00".
The newly serviced outboard engine, is the incomparable 2007 Evinrude E-Tec, 2 stroke, delivering a massive 115hp, throttle controlled CETO oil injection engine, delivering a top speed of 25 to 30 knots with ease, offering better acceleration and pulling power than any equivalent four stroke. Purchased fully serviced with warranty this July 2019 “costing £4,995.00 fitted” from Power tech Marine Hayling Island, Fuel separator filter fitted which gives a nice visual clean fuel supply.
Trailer is a 2000kg Knott by GmbH of Eggstatt DE, bought “used” in 2016. Fully galvanized and braking on swing rollers for easy launch and retrieval. “Costing £1500.00”.
These vessels in this condition are becoming exclusively rare, there is absolutely nothing needed doing she “Bon Voyage“ is ready to cast off to set sail to delight her next new owner.
Boat is available to view in Northney Marina, Hayling Island. Viewing strictly by appointment only.
