I have for sale a very clean Salter Bros Ltd 14ft Single Skiff in white fibreglass to a clinker pattern with the upgrade hardwood gunwales.
This is a current model and the information is available at their website here:
"This popular glass fibre skiff has an attractive clinker appearance and is fitted out with varnished timber gunwales and rowing thwart. The plywood seat-back and floorboards are finished in good quality varnish.
The craft is built for hard use under hire conditions and has been supplied by us for many years to numerous corporations and boating stations across the country.
Heavy-duty galvanised rowlocks are fitted as standard and the bow and stern seats house two built-in foam buoyancy tanks. An adjustable stretcher bar is fitted to the floor to assist the rowing. A varnished plywood rudder complete with lines and necessary metal fixings can be supplied at extra cost and the cushion is an optional extra. A transom can also be fitted enabling an outboard to be fitted.
The skiff is complete with one pair of flat-blade sculls and standard colours are white, Oxford blue and dark green.
Length: 4.27 metres (14 ft)
Beam: 1.19 metres (3 ft 11 ins)
Weight: 80 kilograms (175 lbs)"
This sale also includes the factory 'optional' rudder and padded rear seat cushion, along with some quality, 7'6", curved blade sculls (over £500 worth!) and all these items really complete this beautiful boat.
She was originally bought new from Salter Bros by my Dad (ex Merchant Navy) who only used her a few times from the local rowing club on the River Lea. I have used her twice, once soon after we got her and just recently (after getting her out of dry storage), just to make sure everything was ok and to give her a final goodbye, pre reluctant sale. ;-(
I am only aware of one small mark low on her starboard bow that I believe came from delivery and has been polished out. There are no other major marks or even signs of use, not surprising given how little use she has seen.
The current retail price is £3,595 for the timber gunwale model, plus the £500+ for the extras, making her over £4,000 new!
She is available to the right buyer at a saving of around £1,000!
If you have any questions, please ask. ;-)
All the best and thanks for looking,
T i m
p.s. Please note, the trailer is NOT part of the deal. However, I may be willing to deliver within a reasonable distance and for an agreed sum (around cost price). A deposit may be required to hold the boat.
