This is our much loved Colvic family fishing boat which we are now putting up for sale.
This is a full displacement vessel with a length of 20ft. Two people can sleep comfortably with provision for a third little one in the middle. She is fully equipped for day and night passages. These boats are known for their fantastic sea-keeping ability making it a good safe option for fishing trips. With a clean bottom the boat will cruise at around 8kts.
Firstly the good bits:
This boat is fitted with a BMC 1.5 diesel engine. These engines are known for reliability and fuel economy burning around 5 litres an hour.
There is a Lowrance HDS side scan plotter with South Coast charts and also 3G radar. Both of which are superb bits of kit. The radar is so sensitive you can even pick up a seagull sat on the water. The system can also supply an AIS feed which can be run on a laptop (shown in one of the pictures but we don't normally use it). The fish finder on the HDS failed so we fitted a separate fish finder. It actually works better for us as we now have two screens.
The boat is fitted with two recently replaced heavy duty batteries to power the electronics and can be individually isolated. This means you can run one battery with the engine off being sure you still have power in the second battery for starting the engine. These are charged by a solar panel fitted to the roof.
The panel includes fuel level, RPM, Battery meter and voltage, oil pressure, water temperature. There are switches to operate the nav lights, remote control search light, windscreen wiper, horn and deck lights.
All interior wood has been crafted out of mahogany by a skilled furniture maker, who happened to be the previous owner, and has been skilfully put together. The standard of workmanship is quite exceptional. The interior is all in excellent clean condition.
The Bad Bits:
Sadly our boat has been a victim of lockdown. Having spent four months sat on the mooring with no attention she has suffered. We would have normally had her out of the water in March for a jet wash, anti foul and service but we didn't get it done this year before being locked down. This meant nearly four months sat on a mooring with no attention. The hull is filthy, thanks to the seagulls and the underside is green. Very green. Sadly water has got into no. 4 cylinder which has caused corrosion to the point the engine will have to come out to have that piston/cylinder replaced. We stupidly left the exhaust drain closed allowing water to build up. This is not an enormous task for the mechanically minded or you could pay somebody to do it. However I simply don't have the time to sort this out.
Summary of what is included:
Lowrance HDS Gen 7 with side scan
Fitted vhf radio with hailer which has been registered to the boat
Anchor, chain and warp. Not sure of length but more than we have ever needed
Sea toilet (not cassette)
Remote control search light
BMC 1.5 (Needing re-build)
2 x Batteries with solar charging
Full set of replacement anodes (buyer will need to fit)
Jobs that will need doing:
Exterior woodwork would benefit from a light rub down and a coat of varnish
Partial engine re-build
The pictures are from the last few years. The ones on the beach were last year when we cleaned and anti fouled and do not show the boat in her current state. However they do show what the boat should look like once she has been jet washed and polished.
She currently lives on a mooring in Langstone harbour. Viewings would be welcome on weekends by arrangement. The mooring may be available by negotiation and currently costs £130 per year. You will be getting a very capable boat equipped with everything you are going to need to go sea fishing.
