Sailing BoatsMotor SailersNauticatFinmar 36 - Project
This is a sturdy, well-built, Sloop-rigged motor sailer, in need of some TLC. Woodwork needs skilled attention to bring her back to her full potential, so this is reflected in the asking price. She has served as a live-aboard vessel for the last 16 years, kept afloat on a river pontoon berth for the past eight years. The overall appearance has unfortunately degraded over the years due to the limited maintenance by the owner as a result of being retired and infirm. Owner has recently moved to Spain for health reasons and the boat is being sold as seen, on owner's behalf. All paperwork present showing original sale contract for £56k in 2004, including receipts for repairs carried out and survey.
The grp hull, 72hp engine, mast, winches and rigging are all sound and appear to be in reasonably good working condition, along with a decent suit of sails - forestay roller reefing for foresail and mast roller reefing for mainsail.
Care and attention is needed on the timber/plywood joinery of the coach roof and bulkheads below deck, which have been allowed to deteriorate over time, with rain water ingress in places. The Teak Decking timber has some soft patches around some stanchion fittings, though the caulking appears intact. Also visible is some damage to the toe rail and tread boards either side of the wheel house, leading to the aft deck, and signs on the fore deck where the Windlass has been removed.
Navigational equipment has been removed, and all the interior 12v light fittings were decommissioned as the boat was permanently connected to shore power. The galley electrical equipment is no longer functional. Neither is the oven.
The internal layout is spacious with ample head room, huge amounts of storage, and comprises an aft cabin, a centre wheel-house saloon, a main saloon below and galley to starboard, a separate v-berth and a separate heads to port. There is a black water holding tank, two fuel tanks and a fresh water tank.
The boat performed well under power recently when relocating upriver for lift-out and bottom scrub, where she can now be viewed, ashore in Ireland, Co. Wexford.
