Major refit 2018/2019
Based on the hull of the iconic wooden Huntsman 31 which was well proven in its performance, sea keeping qualities and appearance, the GRP Fairey Spearfish is an ideal weekender and this particular boat with it's recent refit and great condition really must be seen.
This boat was originally a Fairey Spear, the military spec version of a Fairey Spearfish, with a solid cockpit roof and enclosure. This boat has been converted recently to the specifcation of a Spearfish. She has the later transom style with built in anti cavitation "bustle" and also a foredeck built in anchor well. The Spears were perceived to have been built to a higher specification with more robust mouldings.
She sleeps two in a convertible saloon either as two singles or a double which is created with a cushion in fill.
Her aft cockpit is ideal for entertaining and she is perfectly capable of long passages if required. Alternatively she is the ideal sailors boat for the Solent and turns heads wherever she goes.
Extensive survey available.
The cabin is entered from the cockpit via a two-part teak folding door to starboard and down two steps. From forward are two single berths in a U-shaped configuration. Using 3 wooden boards and with the appropriate infill, this can be made up into a double berth. There is stowage under the berths. Set in the forward bulkhead are doors into a huge storage area for bedding and clothing. Set in the ceiling is a large escape/ventilation hatch. The full length side and front windows provide much natural light.
In the port after corner of the cabin is a teak door into the toilet compartment and in here is the sea toilet outboard under the side deck with hatches in the lining behind it giving access to the sea cocks below and into a toiletries locker above. There is full standing headroom in here and all surfaces are washable.
The galley is just inside the cabin entrance to starboard and comprises a stainless steel sink set into a counter top with H&C mixer tap, a two burner cooker and lockers below for food and cooking utensils.
The cockpit has the helm position to port and comprises a helm seat hinged against the forward end of the engine box in front of a comprehensive array of engine instruments with the navigation aids neatly set across the console. Visibility is excellent through the curved windscreen. To starboard is a matching seat. Lockers in the cockpit coamings are ideal for boat spares.
The rear of the cockpit is open plan for maximum flexibilty. Hatches in the floor forward can be raised to access the engine room and in the aft cockpit to access the bilges, fuel tanks and steering gear.
A sprayhood and tent enclose the cockpit when desired. A transom boarding ladder is fitted and there are handrails around the cockpit sides.
There are grab rails on the cabin roof and the foredeck has a stainless steel pilot rail rail for crew security.
