    Mechanical :
    Overview

The Contessa 32 was introduced following the success of the ever-popular Contessa 26. The boat was again produced using the successful David Sadler/Jeremy Rogers partnership and was first revealed to the boating public in early 1973. Such was the success that demand outstripped production very quickly and to alleviate the already growing 2-year waiting list, bigger premises were obtained. Over 700 of these fantastic yachts were produced and thanks to an active "Owners Association" which organises races and social events, these boats are still desirable today. The popularity is due to their beautiful lines, performance in light winds and the safety offered in a tempest. While they may lack the creature comforts of their modern French-built cousins, the Contessa 32 has a lot to offer as an offshore cruiser/racer. This particular example has a smart navy blue painted hull, a reliable, although original SAAB inboard diesel and a decent set of sails by JKA. The Genoa has a new UV strip. The vessel was professionally refitted between 2012 and 2016. All deck fittings were removed before she had her decks and coachroof resprayed. Internally she was gutted and all furniture revarnished and her upholstery replaced.

    Construction

GRP constructed yacht with navy blue painted topsides with white decoration and white coach roof. 1.68M draft fin keel with skeg mounted rudder and tiller steering. 2041 kgs ballast giving ballast ratio of 47% making her excellent in a blow. Deep self bailing cockpit with sail locker to port and to the rear. Teak slatted locker tops. These were all replaced in 2016. Stainless steel bow and stern rails joined by stanchions and guardwires. Raised accommodation deck with new port lights either side and new opening deck hatches for ventilation. Teak capping rails around bulwark and transom. Teak grab rails on cochroof.

    Engine & Electrics

Vessel powered by a reliable and economical SAAB inboard diesel engine. Engine is original and has been well maintained. Vessel cruises at 5 knots under engine at 2000rpm. Most recent service in March 2019 but has not worked in anger since. Oil is clean. Reduction gearbox driving a 2 bladed fixed propeller protected by skeg. Bank of 2x 12V batteries fitted with a isolators. The batteries are recharged via the engine alternator or onboard battery charger. Shore power cable..
