For almost forty years Cantiere del Pardo has been creating yachts with a blend of high performance and unmistakable elegance. These distinguishing features have made Grand Soleil a true icon of Italian design, thus allowing Cantiere del Pardo to leave a mark on a fundamental chapter in the history of modern sailing.

The new GS 47’ combines luxurious detail and advanced technology deriving from custom made boats. Its racing water lines are accompanied and finished in an elegant, refined way, making this boat the perfect solution for owners looking for performance and style.

Waterlines on the new GS 47’ come from the most advanced research in the field of fluid dynamics and from the hand of the America’s Cup Designer Marcelino Botin. The construction techniques applied have taken full advantage of the latest technological innovations: hull and deck are built in sandwich construction, the hull is laminated through the process of vacuum-bag infusion, the internal grid pan is made of a composite of carbon and glass fiber thus allowing the GS 47´ to be stiff and rigid, but considerably lightweight. This coupled with the efficient T-shape keel, which lowers the center of gravity, gives the boat one of the highest ballast ratios in the category, guaranteeing maximum safety and comfort whilst cruising and the best performance while racing.

Below decks, style and attention to detail is paramount and typical of every Grand Soleil. The standard interior layout offers a practical and functional solution with an ‘L’ shaped galley, three cabins and two heads, and is characterised by a very bright and a fresh style, thanks to numerous natural light points and solid wood elements in alternation with white linear surfaces. Great attention has also been placed on the number of storage compartments and the large chart table that is capable of taking full size paper charts.

    RCD Status:
The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean”

    Hull Construction:
Hull and deck built in sandwich construction with glass biaxial and unidirectional fabrics.
The infusion technique is used to maximise rigidity and minimise weight.
Core (AIREX) of different densities according to stress area is vacuum bonded.
Further reinforcements are positioned in high stress areas.
Use of solid laminate around keel, rudder and through hull fittings for maximum strength.
Hull and deck are bonded together using a structural acrylic glue derived from the aircraft industry.
The internal grid, made of carbon fibre composite, is built with the infusion technique and laminated to the hull.
The grid absorbs loads from keel, mast and shrouds.
The deck area near the mast is reinforced and the core of the sandwich is made of marine plywood.
Transom laminate with unidirectional ibres to maximise rigidity.
Bulwark integrated with the hull laminate to guarantee greater torsional rigidity, brass reinforcements for stanchions, pulpits and deck equipment.
The central chain plates are recessed to the hull, fixed to the bulwark and are joined to the boat’s internal structure.
The aft and stern chain plates are internally laminated to the hull and recessed.
8mm vacuum-bonded teak laid side decks and cockpit with light caulking.
    White gelcoat topsides

    Deck & Superstructure Construction:

    Keel & Rudder:
The T-shaped keel guarantees high performance and stability.
The bulb and in are just one piece with a fusion of lead and antimony.
The keel is coupled to the hull by means of a steel plate recessed
to the hull to minimize friction and to reduce local loads.
The internal grid of the keel is made of steel and extends all along
the blade to guarantee maximum strength.
Epoxy products are applied to the surface of the bulb and keel.
The rudder is balanced and made of high-density expanded material.
The rudder stock is made of stainless steel with welded wings for
    improved blade strength and safety.
