    FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

KOS 52 is a beautifully presented and well-maintained example of the ever-popular Lagoon 52 F and is only now being sold so that her owner can move up to larger Lagoon. MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:
The 52 marks a whole new era in the design of cruising catamarans, as indeed did its predecessor, the famed 500. With its diamond-shaped vertical bows, bevelled hulls, it’s as if levitated deckhouse and tall rig, the 52 is no ordinary catamaran, but its originality goes a great deal further than just its "outer" appearance, or even its interior layout.
This Lagoon is the result of lengthy discussions between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon Design Department. These discussions led us to make some important and sometimes radical choices, while remaining faithful to what we believe in, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, user friendliness and, it goes without saying, performance under sail.

The boat is accessed via open aft transoms, facilitating boarding and disembarking. The boat enjoys broad side decks, with recessed deck hatches. The cockpit is level with the saloon and has an outdoor lounge and sun-lounging area to starboard. The fly bridge is reached either by a staircase leading from the cockpit, or by another leading from the deck on the starboard side. The steering station can be adjusted to three different positions (starboard, centre or port), giving the skipper perfect visibility under sail or when manoeuvring.

The decision to locate the mast further to aft directly comes from the designers' racing experience and has many advantages on a cruising catamaran; a large forward triangle allows a larger sails choice; a promise for great performance. The shorter boom makes the mainsail much easier to manoeuvre
the mainsail, which is relatively narrower and higher, benefits from better winds at the top, thus enhancing performance, by re-centring the weight in this way, pitching is considerably reduced.

The saloon encompasses the lounge and dining table to starboard, a large galley in a U-shape on port side, the chart table in the middle facing out to sea. The “U” galley is equipped with large hot plates, work space and plenty of storage. The circulation in the salon is optimized, between the lounge and the galley,
all the cabins have large double beds, storage space in keeping with the offshore sailing program of the boat and, of course, an en-suite bathroom with separate shower. The cabins have incomparable natural lighting thanks to the fixed hull windows, together with excellent ventilation, thanks to the deck hatches and portholes that open out to the hull-side or to the cockpit.

    YACHTING PRESS REVIEW:

The Lagoon 52 represents a new direction in big boats for this respected French catamaran builder. Using new performance criteria, VPLP Design has created a family of faster vessels that also happen to have dramatic looks and great strength. The 52 would make a fine voyager for two couples or a family that wanted to cross oceans rapidly and in style. With several of the alternate layouts, it would also be a luxurious charter craft.

The deck layout of the Lagoon 52 is unique, with all the action happening on a big flybridge, one flight upstairs from the passenger cockpit and far above the water. Passengers who prefer to enjoy the ride quietly or converse with others can lounge in the cockpit below or sit sunning on the bows as the dolphins arc past.

Typical of Lagoons, the interior is friendly to tall sailors, not just in the saloon, but in the other cabins as well. Walk into the owner’s cabin and you’ll think you’re in an upscale hotel room. The guest accommodations are lovely, too.
The Lagoon 52 is part of a major evolutionary step for this well-established company. A new desire for speed with easy handling has brought a dramatic design change while retaining the builder’s familiar overall look. It’s easy to imagine cruising the islands in style aboard this boat and experiencing some great sailing while doing it. In the luxury catamaran market, the Lagoon 52 is a serious contender that deserves a close look if your budget is right.
    Sail Magazine – June 2014
    MANUFACTURER’S HISTORY:

The creation of Lagoon in 1984, which was originally the direct extension of JTA (Jeanneau Technologies Avancees), Jeanneau’s “competition” department (Pierre ler, Fleury Michon, etc). Lagoon also answered to unusual requests, such as the construction of the trimarans for the film Waterworld. In 1987 a first generation of catamarans was born with the Lagoon 55, 47, 57, and 67: owners’ boats for offshore cruising.

The Beneteau Group took over the Jeanneau shipyards in 1996 and handed over the development of the Lagoon brand, a legacy of its acquisition to Construction Navale Bordeaux. The use of high-tech composite was implemented in the shipyard.

From 1997, Lagoon established its identity, building more and more spacious and comfortable boats, while enhancing construction methods. During that period, the Lagoon 380, 410, 440, 470, 500 and 570 were launched. Further enhancements and refinements came in 2004 with the Lagoon 440 – the first catamaran with a “gull wing shape” nacelle, and the first catamaran under 45 feet with a flybridge. An unparalleled worldwide production record in the 45-foot range with 423 units produced.

The Lagoon range has continued to advance through to the current day adopting new technologies such as hybrid diesel/electric propulsion where it sees a benefit to its customers and the wider environment. All-in-all, Lagoon catamarans must be one of the most successful brands of multihulls for customers wishing to enjoy luxurious living combined with excellent sailing performance.
