    BROKER’S COMMENTS:

CAPT. COOK is a very special example of the Pelle Petterson designed Maxi 1300. Not commissioned until 2010, she was fitted out for serious performance blue water cruising, at cost of well in excess of Euro 500k, CAPT.COOK is set up to cross oceans safely single-handed or with a very small crew.

CAPT. COOK boasts many specification highlights including:-

    Owner’s cabin layout with 3-cabins, 2-heads
    Dark blue topsides
    Easy-maintenance GRP decks
Extensive sail wardrobe for ocean sailing/racing including storm sails, furling gennaker and code zero
    Extensive safety equipment inventory
    Generator, inverter and solar power
    Watermaker
    Air conditioning and heating
    All electric galley
    Upgraded battery capacity
    Larger 55hp Volvo engine option
    Electric halyard winch
NKE navigation electronics and chart plotter computer system
Iridium satellite phone and SSB systems

CAPT. COOK is now offered for sale as her owner wishes to retire from ocean sailing. Carefully maintained since new, she is EU VAT paid and will soon be returning from the Caribbean to Europe and will be in Gibraltar in late August.

    OWNER’S COMMENTS:

We bought the yacht as the first owner in September 2010. All equipment which had to be serviced according to the manufacturer has always regularly been maintained. So the engine and the generator has been serviced every year, the liferaft every third year, the lifeackets every second year, the deck and the hull polished and waxed every second year, the watermaker always conserved after use, the EPIRBs and other electronics with batteries always renewed and so on.

The yacht was originally exhibited at the 2008 La Rochelle Boat Show. She was then placed ashore with the French Maxi Yachts dealer as a display yacht and was not launched or fully commissioned until we bought her in 2010. We then further equipped the yacht according to our specifications for worldwide sailing and to take part in trans-ocean regattas. The specification complies with the ISAF special regulations of category one for monohulls.

After taking ownership of the yacht in September 2010, we have sailed the yacht mainly either as a couple or singlehanded. Her maiden voyage was a non-stop passage from Brittany to Gran Canaria. In 2011, we sailed from the Canary Islands to Madeira, Portugal, Spain and Italy. In the following season we were in Greece, in the Adriatic and in the Mediterranean. In 2016 we participated in the ARC and sailed to the Caribbean.
Each sailed day is entered in the logbook and most routes are also electronically logged with all values such as position, speed, wind direction, wind force, depth, etc.

    SPECIAL FEATURES:

The yacht is suitable for short or long-range races or for a round-the-world sailing and is equipped according to the special regulations of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) for category 1 trans-ocean trips and can operate self-sufficient several months long.
The electrical power supply is carried out in addition to the alternator with solar cells and a diesel generator. An adjustable shore connection for 230 or 110 V AC with isolating transformer is installed.
The energy consumption of the yacht is minimized, the instruments and as well also the radar has minimal consumption (1,38A !), all lamps are LEDs and the refrigerator is seawater-cooled.
The fresh water supply is made from two tanks and by means of a watermaker.
The tactical software of Nick White, VOLVO Ocean Race Navigator is available for weather and regatta routing. All dynamic ship data as well as the AIS values are combined in a NMEA network and are projected together with the radar images and weather predictions in GRIB size on the current electronic chart. The software is coupled with the autopilot so that the software calculates and optimizes routes without manual control. All data are presented on a water and vibration resistant on-board computer, GETAC.
The sailed routes are logged and thus the performance data of the yacht (polar charts) can always be optimized.
Accessories for the alternative navigation with sea charts consisting of: circle, triangle, etc., compass, binoculars with integrated compass, sextant, and the necessary sea charts, nautical almanac and pilot charts / port handbooks.
The detachable second forestay and a second rail on the mast allow the setting of storm jibs or working jibs and trysail.
An also removable Facnor furling system allows the setting of gennaker or code 0 on the bowsprit or the setting of a stagnant heavy weather jib instead of the second forestay, tensioned with the 2: 1 reduced halyard.
The mainsail has three single reefs and controlled with the mainsheet, German Sheeting System + traveler and with the preventer.
The yacht is basically designed for singlehanded sailing on longer routes and has also been practiced several times by the owner. The winch on starboard has an electric drive to which all halyards and sheets can be diverted, also the reefing line of the foresail furler.
During night sailing the entire lighting in the salon and navigation area can be switched to red.
An active radar reflector and an AIS transmitter provide additional security.
A fixed built-in VHF and an SSB marine radio with a Pactor modem, coupled with e-mail traffic and weather forecasts with the on-board computer, is available for communication. The VHF radio has a manual remote control in the cockpit and a horn loudspeaker on the mast.
All flammable gases or gasoline have been removed. Cooking is via an electric cooker and microwave, and the outboard engine is also electric (Torqeedo).
The safety equipment of the yacht includes an ocean-going liferaft including hand-operated water maker, VHF radio with integrated GPS, the usual signal rakets, as well as an emergency radio beacon (EPIRB), foods, radar reflector, etc.
The lifejackets have pocket flashlight, AIS transmitter and a personal emergency beacon (PLB).
Safety lines (lifelines) are available overall in the cockpit, control stands and the entire deck from the companionway.
To ride out storms, a parachute sea anchor included 180 m rope and a series drouge are available.
Detachable or retractable covers are available for the Mainsail and Genoa. For the protection of the sun during the journey a bimini is used, which can also be provided with covers on all sides.
Additional four covers are available for anchorages or for the stay in a marina, so that all hatches and windows and the deck are protectected by the direct sunshine.
The main anchor / harness consists of a stainless steel anchor and a salt water resistant stainless steel chain suitable for tropical waters, as well as an anchor line.
The stern anchor / harness consists of an aluminum anchor, stainless steel chain and a rope.
A heating system with diesel fuel and air conditioning are provided for air conditioning.
All the spare parts and tools on board are available on board in order to maintain all functions of the yacht even in far reaches. An electronic stock list is available.
The complete documentation of the yacht, the routes recorded in log files, including a scanned logbook, as well as the port descriptions and the interesting facts from the magazines YACHT, PALSTEK, SAILING and YACHTREVUE are included on board in electronic form in PDF files.
The yacht hull is accident-free and has been maintained according to the regulations and recommendations of the manufacturers
