Sadler 29 - 1986 - £17,950 A good example of the popular Sadler 29 model. This is the popular twin keeled, shoal draught version allowing the ability to dry out or to be laid ashore without recourse to a storage cradle. With attractive lines and easily handled the Sadler 29 is intended to offer a satisfying performance to experienced sailors, the Sadler 29 also offers the benefits of 'unsinkability' and insulation through the use of space-filling foam between the hull inner moulding. This particular example benefits from the convenience offered by 'in-mast' (behind-mast) reefing of the mainsail and a consequently younger mainsail (dates from 2006), with the roller reefing genoa being younger than the yacht herself but that sail's age has not been fully established. The standing rigging has been reported to date from the same time as the 'behind-mast' reefing system, although not documented.

    Accommodation:
Comfortable accommodation offering six berths in two cabins.
Forward cabin: with double vee berth.
Heads: compartment with sea toilet, wash basin and locker space.
    Hanging/sail locker opposite heads.
Saloon: with 'U' shaped seating to port, this can convert to a double berth, central table with bottle stowage, settee berth opposite. Navigation station aft with forward facing chart table and quarter-berth aft.
Galley: 'L' shaped galley features a replacement Neptune 4500 gas cooker by Plastimo, with 2 burners, oven and grill, hand pumped freshwater to the sink, coolbox and lockers. A hinged extension adds an additional working surface. A double-gang 240V/13A socket is mounted in the galley area, with two others provided about the accommodation.

The cushions covers appear to have been professionally replaced at some point, with good quality 'Draylon'-type fabric.

    Mechanical and Electrical systems
A Perkins 403C, 3-cylinder, indirectly cooled diesel rated at approx. 20 BHP. replaces the original Volvo Penta 18 BHP engine and drives a fixed two bladed propeller through a conventional stainless steel propeller shaft. An oil lubricated lip seal is fitted by way of a drip-less stern gland and a stainless steel 'Razor'- type rope cutter is fitted ahead of the propeller. Two lead-acid batteries of approx. 85 A/hr capacity each were replacements in 2016 and are fitted within a dedicated and moulded battery containment beneath the quarter berth and are selected and isolated by rotary changeover switch. A battery state monitor is fitted at the chart table area.

A 'Nu-Max' battery charger is fitted, together with an RCD unit (for protection) fitted beneath the chart table.

Tankage: Fuel capacity: Approx. 68 litres (15 Imp. gallons). Water capacity: Approx. 68 litres (15 Imp. gallons).

    History & Construction
This is a twin keeled version of the well admired and very successful Sadler 29. Intended to be unsinkable, the design provides for internal spaces between the hull and a single piece internal moulding to be foam filled and thereby ensure positive buoyancy in the event of a hull breach. The transom-hung rudder is supported by a full length skeg, while the ballast keels feature flared top faces and are fastened by means of large diameter studs and internal fastening nuts. The keels are not as splayed as in many competing designs and this fact combined with good access to the keel fastenings from within the accommodation areas makes for a design that is better suited than many competitors to be kept on economical drying or shallow moorings.
