    The Alan Pape designed Saltram Saga 31 is a heavily constructed cruising yacht with classic lines, together with a well deserved reputation for good performance and superlative seakeeping qualities. Built by Skentlebury & Sons and previously owned by John Skentlebury, this offshore cruiser has been beautifully maintained and upgraded by her knowledgeable owner, and is presented for sale in truly excellent condition.     Accommodation
    The accommodation offers up to five berths in two cabins with standing headroom in the saloon. In the forecabin, V berth with infill. Opening hatch to foredeck. Separate heads to port with marine toilet and washbasin. In saloon, two settee berths. Fixed table with drop leaf. Opening hatch to deck. Chart table to starboard with quarter berth behind and galley opposite. Origo two burner cooker with oven. Stainless steel sink with manually pumped water supply. 100 litre freshwater capacity. Wallas 40DT diesel fired warm air heating system.
    Mechanical Systems
    Loated behind the companionway, Bukh DV20 twin cylinder 20hp diesel engine. Sea water cooled. Morse controls with electric start and hand start facility. Shaft drive (new cutless bearing 2010) to two bladed propeller. 120 litre fuel capacity giving approximately 250 mile range at 5 knot cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 6 knots. The engine has been regularly serviced every year by her owner who is a marine engineer by trade.
    Electrical Systems
    2 x 12v Batteries charged via engine alternator. Shorepower system with a double 240v socket and Sterling Ultra battery charger. Electrical distribution panel. Full cabin lighting. All wiring was inspected and replaced where necessary in 2008.
    Spars & Sails
    Sloop rigged. Z-Spars anodised aluminium mast and boom. Whisker pole. Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2015). Removable inner forestay. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail with stack-pack sail bag. Sailspar headsail furling system. Two Lewmar 40 self tailing sheet winches. Two Lewmar 8 halyard winches. Lewmar 6 reefing winch.     Construction
    Saga 31 built in 1984 by Skentlebury & Sons to a design by Alan Pape. White GRP hull with blue sheer line. Epoxy sheathed marine plywood deck and coachroof. Long keel with encapsulated ballast. Keel hung rudder. Tiller steering. Epoxied below the waterline from new. Refit in 2008 including re-epoxying below the waterline, new teak brightwork, new toerails, rewiring, new deck gear, anchor windlass, central heating and much more. The owner, a skilled shipwright, has taken great pains to ensure that the maintenance of the superstructure is as simple as possible.
