The Vancouver 27 was the brainchild of Canadian naval architect Robert Harris, expressly designed to carry two people and all their belongings and provisions across oceans. At first glance they immediately exude a power and confidence that belies, by modern standards, their modest size and they have subsequently proved to be superb bluewater cruisers, capable of coping with the very worst conditions with every confidence. They are easily handled under sail and with their moderate draft also make excellent coastal cruisers. This really nice example has been carefully and thoroughly prepared by a knowledgeable owner for the Big Trip, but sadly circumstances have overtaken his plans to sail away to the big blue yonder. She therefore represents an excellent opportunity for someone with far horizons on their mind to get going with little more than antifouling to be done before setting off. Accommodation
The accommodation offers up to four berths in an open plan layout. Forward is the separate heads compartment with marine toilet and washbasin, with hanging locker opposite. The well thought out design makes the heads particularly safe and secure to use in a seaway. Forward of the heads in the forepeak is a useful and generous stowage area. In the saloon, two settee berths with lee cloths. Opening hatch to deck. The support for the mast provides an excellent handhold and also supports the saloon table. The owner has chosen to remove this to give extra space, but it could be simply and quickly re-fitted if desired. Gimballed oil lamp. Moving aft, there is a chart table to starboard with a galley opposite. Two burner gimballed Taylors 029 paraffin cooker. Stainless steel sink with manually pumped water supply. 35 gallon freshwater capacity in three flexible tanks. Coolbox under chart table seat. Quarter berths port and starboard. Radio/CD player. There is excellent stowage throughout the boat.
