Medway Surveyor - Harbour Launch for sale

    Work BoatsUnited KingdomQueenborough1963

Full of character, The Medway Surveyor is a strong, sturdy, highly seaworthy vessel. She was commissioned by the Medway Ports Authority in 1963 as the new Harbour Launch and is believed to be the very last vessel built by M W Blackmore and Sons in Bideford, Devon. Originally named The Medway Leader, she went on to become the Port’s survey vessel and with her change of role, came a change of name - The Medway Surveyor.

She boasts a double diagonal, teak on oak, wooden hull, which is in very good condition and should serve her well for many years to come.

Perhaps her greatest assets though are her two x 8 cylinder Gardiner Engines which both run perfectly and are exceedingly economical. She also carries two generators, one of which was installed to power the surveying equipment).

Her spacious wheelhouse boats an array of fully operational electronics including power steering, FA150 Furuno AIS, NX300 Furuno Navtex, Koden Echo sounder, 20-50 Decca Radar, Transponder, VHF radio and windscreen wipers.

Down below there is also plenty of space, including a large galley, two smaller cabin areas and two separate heads.

Her vital statistics are as follows: Length 19.5m (61’) Width 3.7m (14’), Depth 1.6m (5’3”).

She could be converted to a very comfortable live-aboard or used as a sturdy, reliable work boat or passenger vessel.

Her superstructure requires repainting and a bit of t.l.c.

A mud berth can be supplied at £70 per metre, per year, including VAT in Queenborough Creek (although we cannot accommodate live aboards).

She is available to be viewed in the water in Queenborough Creek. More photographs are available.
