The Contessa 32 is a 9.75 metre (32 ft) fibreglass monohull sailing yacht, designed in 1970 by David Sadler. Over 750 hulls were built. The Contessa 32 is one of the most successful cruiser racers of the last 30 years. With her long fin keel and skeg-mounted rudder, she's a solid sea-boat that will see you through all seasons of offshore sailing. The Contessa 32 also performs well in races, and as a one-design racing class is administered by an active owner's association.
'Viking' is a beautiful looking boat. Her hull number is 390.
She has just had a complete refit with new upholstery throughout. All the internal woodwork has been stripped back and revarnished with International Satin. New cutlass bearings and a new rudder have been fitted and all sea cocks stripped down and serviced. The spray hood has been fitted with new windows and new acrylic deck hatches fitted. The fresh water system has been replaced throughout together with a genuine Contessa tank liner.
In the cockpit, all the seating has been replaced in teak together with new teak toe and taff rails. A new teak instrument console has also been fitted in the cockpit for the NASA instruments. The tiller has also been refurbished.
All the standing rigging has been cleaned and inspected and new clevis pins fitted throughout.
The main sail is in good, serviceable, condition. The foresails are traditional, hank on and are in need or replacing or an upgrade to roller furling. The condition of the sails has been reflected in the asking price.
The engine has been fully overhauled with new fluids, new filters, new belts, a new impeller and a reconditioned alternator. It has done around 830 hours.
The hull is in excellent condition. It has had full osmosis treatment, and all the old antifoul has been scraped off and four coats of Primacon applied in preparation for the new owner to apply antifoul before she goes in the water.
The saloon provides a comfortable space for relaxing and dining with a large table which can be folded back. She offers attractive and comfortable accommodation with real wood, teak, finish. There are a total of six berths, two double and two single, a heads compartment and a well-equipped galley. The galley has been very recently rebuilt. It includes new formica surfaces and a new Voyager 4500 double burner cooker, grill and oven. New gas piping has been installed together with a new regulator. There is also a 12 volt cooling compartment and a cold water foot pump.
