Colvic Craft have been moulded in excess of Lloyd's specifications: and the highest standard of quality control carried out at every stage of production.

    QUOTATIONS from SURVEY with reference to 'CLAUDIUS PTOLEMY':-

    "A considerable amount of equipment was found to have been fitted and older items completely overhauled or replaced, ‘some’ of the major items being listed below".
    "In addition to the above there were also a much larger number of further changes and equipment installed: the actual overall total was found to be in the region of £60,000“.
    "This does not take into consideration all the hours of work spent in undertaking the installation and the fitting of all the relevant equipment and fittings".
    "The craft now represents what must be considered one of the most fully equipped 41-foot sailing craft around".
    "Taking into consideration the refit undertaken it is considered that the value for replacement purposes would be in the region of at least £105,000 and therefore should be insured for at least this sum".

    FITTED OUT: by original owner in 1984, and subsequently professionally refitted by Bridgewater Boats in 1993.

    MAINTENANCE & IMPROVEMENTS: fully documented, a high standard of maintenance throughout, with extensive refit in 2004 and 2009.
    TO DATE: Considerable attention has been 'continually' focused on Claudius Ptolemy with regard to both 'maintenance' and the introduction of 'improvements': with fully documented expenditure currently totalling in excess of £60,000.

    HULL DESIGN: Incorporating high free board; self draining centre cockpit with high coamings; a CUT AWAY BOW with a FINE ENTRY AT FOREFOOT; a DEEP ROUND BILGE SECTION and a LONG STRAIGHT FIN KEEL, incorporating the encapsulated ballast (believed to be iron), to a MOULDED SKEG AND A TRANSOM STERN.
    The HYDROFOIL SECTION RUDDER is through hull mounted, SKEG SUPPORTED, and is operated by a wheel mounted on a moulded console in the CENTRE COCKPIT, or alternatively below deck by the saloon cabin BRIDGE-DECK wheel.

    DISPLACEMENT: 10 Tons/10,160 Kilos including encapsulated long fin keel balllast of approximately 4 Tons/4,064 Kilos.

    PILOT/NAVIGATION STATION: situated portside, near the companionway. On the bulkhead forming a division from the rest of the vessel, the Auxiliary steering wheel & engine controls are located on a console; there are two curved windscreen sections, with a further long window section extending down the raised cabin sides.

    CHART TABLE: full sized with chart storage area, the windscreen and long window section supply good natural light: and there is the essentially comfortable Pilot seat!

    CABIN ONE - SELF CONTAINED 2 BERTH: situated portside, leading off the companionway and consisting of integral two-tier single berths; a number of large storage lockers and airing cupboard: immersion heater, calorifier, and galvanic isolator.

    HEADS COMPARTMENT - SELF CONTAINED: situated starboard, with sliding door; vanity sink; marine toilet and shower: a well designed compartment with ample room.

    MASTER CABIN - SELF CONTAINED DOUBLE BERTH: divided from all previous quarters by bulkhead door: double berth portside; 2 wardrobes; seating and adequate stowage. This cabin is adjacent to, but separated from the foc'sle by a bulkhead door.

    FOC'SLE - SELF CONTAINED: Entirely separated by a bulkhead with twin hinged doors, and contains an auxilary marine toilet, and chain locker. This compact compartment is useful for stowage, and has excellent natural light from the forehatch. The original design specification shows a single side-berth in the foc'sle.

    SUMMARY: As a Colvic 41, Designed and Built to last and fully equipped to provide steadfast service, "CLAUDIUS PTOLEMY" is an outstanding example of a distinctive 'blue water cruising yacht': offering a good ‘all round’ sailing performance, complimented by a high standard of accommodation.
