With a reputation for solid, well-built boats, Seamaster was one of the largest boat builders in the 1960s and 1970s producing a wide range of sailing yachts and motor boats. The Seamaster 815 was in production from 1976 to 1981 and a total of 136 were built. Designed by Holman and Pye, the Seamaster 815 took on a much more modern style than was traditionally seen from the Seamaster stable, yet the 815 model retained the company's reputation for dependable boats. "Staffin" is one of the last Seamaster 815s to be built, having left the factory in 1981. This family cruising yacht is the fin keel variant, and boasts an open and airy interior with a maximum internal headroom of 1.8m (5'10"). The hull is a moderate displacement hull, and the design has sufficient sail area to give good performance. The interior woodwork of the boat has been carefully removed and stored in dry conditions, and is available for the new owner. Soft furnishings will be required to complete. The boat presents a fantastic opportunity for affordable cruising for someone with the ability to complete the interior refit, and re-install the engine if required. The engine, a Yanmar 8hp diesel, is available and has been inspected and found to be in good working order by a commercial diesel engineer. The propeller shaft and the propeller itself are also available. Alternatively, a new Torqeedo 1003L electric outboard with remote control throttles is available for an extra purchase price of £1,400.
